Have just seen article on above site, has anyone been there. It says has fishing lakes but have been on Google earth and can see campsite but no signs of lakes, just wondered what it was like. It's only about an hour from where we live and would be useful for a short visit, husband especially would like it being a keen fisherman.

Hi

We stayed at Wing Hall last summer.

Its fair to say it is more geared up for campers than caravanners. Its in the grounds of a pretty tired old semi stately house and ran by an equally tired older woman who seemed to have a bit of character / attitude about her that was quite fun.

The grass was too long and we slipped about on it a bit. The chemical toilet emptying point is the most rank I've come across yet and the showers were in an outbuilding of the house and very basic (and by basic I mean dirty).

You can get eggs from the chickens that visit your pitch.

Not sure about fishing - the near by lake you refer to might be Rutland Water?? its quite visable on my map (lol)
