We can't do Oxon Hall as max 2 dogs on a pitch. Can I have the audacity to suggest http://www.thewharfcaravanpark.co.uk/ It has all the facilities you need and is £15 a night with EHU. You can sit in the pub and watch the barges pass by. We could even have a room for ourselves. There is also accommodation for any friedns that do not have a caravan. Site has had a lot of money thrown at it in the past year.

We're up for it, grandson say's it's ok but will have to make a longer stay out of it
smiley-smile.gif

We would look at arriving 25/05/2013 and do at least 5 or 6 nights

Lady Mel believe we are still on about the late may bank hol are you free can you WIGGLE something?
smiley-laughing.gif

Just looked at Oxen Hall and there booking form looks to only accept minimum of 7 nights
Varies from £37.00 to £41.00 per night
As this years organiser Perhaps Lady Di Di would like to ring and ask if they accept less nights?

Sir Delidave was going to check out a place in Stratford Upon Avon. Meanwhile I thought we'd all kind of agreed to find somewhere closer for Sir Sproket.
smiley-undecided.gif

Ok so he can't help living near Leeds but there are some lovely places in the Peaks and along the Penninnes that may be suitable or wherever???

I'll have a good trawl over the next few days.

Dont worry Sir Dusty think we are just looking at our option's and the more the merrier, perhaps we can all look around and see what we can come up with and will certainly await Sir Deli Daves findings.

Can any one who express's an interest see if we can at least agree the dates? This will give us something to work to.

So far think we are looking for the half term week starting from 25/05/13 you then have the options of as many nights as you wish.

Hi all, sorry I haven't been around for a bit, I've been a bit busy.
We rarely book far in advance so apart from the couple of weeks that we always book up for we should be good to go.
Like the look of the Peak District, we've spent a few days around there and it's one of the places we'd like to revisit to see a bit more of it.

I have been to Rivendale twice, but the last time was at least 6 years ago. It is a nice site and sheltered inside a quarry. As it is in a quarry the ground is bl**dy hard and peggiing down, even on the grassy bits needs some serious hammering. There is a pub onsite although it isn't huge (similar proportions to the one at Poston). It is also near the tissington trail if you want to cycle or walk (beware the lycra clad cyclists on razor thin racers) and is also near Ashbourne which is a nice town. The only negative that I felt was that while quarry offered shelter it is also a bit claustophobic, but that might just be me.
A nearby site is Callow Top - two words: never again.
I'm still not sure if I can make that week but there is no rush to confirm is there?

Sounds very much like The CC site at Buxton previously called Grinlow. I agree with Mel the ground in this area is very hard. I have bent rock pegs to prove it.

What puts me off is the usual attempt to charge extra for everything, £2.00 a dog, I have two. £2.00 a night for the awning and I must use bio degradeable chemicals in the toilet which they sell. So straight away it's another £6.00 a night before I blink.

Anyone know what the dog walkings like on off site?

If memory serves there was a small dog walk around the edge of the site but if you walk out of the site and cross the the road you are at the Tissington Trail. This used to be a railway line but the tracks are now removed and so it is a very long (miles and miles) flatish pathway with no traffic except the aforementioned cyclists. It is probably less than 100 yards from the site entrance to the Tissington Trail.
