X-trail or Kia Sorento ?

We've got an Avondale Dart (1100kg). I know we'll have no problems with either car pulling the 'van but can't decide between the two. Does anyone know which gives better mpg ?

Having owned both cars I can answer this one. My X-Trail (previous car) gave between 24 and 27 mpg towing economy, My Sorento (current car) gives around the low twenties. Mine is an auto (one reason for changing from the X) The Sorento is quite a bit heavier than the X. Both are really good tow cars.

Thanks David. I've just purchased the X-Trail today after weeks of indecision. Maybe the Sorento next time round...

Hi Martin

presume you are considering diesel; we have the 136 bhp DCI Sport, manual. We get 26-27 mpg towing a Bailey Senator Indiana (loaded to 1400kg) and get 40 mpg solo. This version weighed 1640 kg on local weighbridge, so quite a bit lighter(and more car-like to drive) than the Sorento.

Hi, I have a Sorento auto and whilst I love the car and its towing capabailty mpg is no better than 30-32mpg solo and 22-24mpg towing 1400kg. I drive quite carefully so iit could be a lot worse. Also the X trail is probably better as an everyday car.
