Yeti!

I am interested in a Skoda Yeti as a towcar. As a 4x4 it seems very economical, relatively low on road tax but can pull fairly heavy weights. The 170bhp has a towing limit of 1800kg according to the brochure. Has anyone got any experience of a Yeti? Is it great - or abominable?!

hi alistair, apparently they are very elusive, i dont have any personal experience of them. however i am led to believe they leave quite a large footprint, which in these crazy days appears to upset some folks. good luck buddy, if its got the power and relevant wieght, then go for it πŸ™‚

Hello Alistair,

Practical Caravan, December issue, did a comparison test with the Yeti 2.0 TDI 140bhp against a Peugeot 3008 HDi 150. It shows a towing limit of 1600kg, with a kerb weight of 1605kg, noseweight of 75kg. 85% of kerbweight = 1364kg.

The Yeti won the test and was given a good rating as a tow car. However I think you should also consider the Kia Sportage, offers higher kerb weight and is lower in price, I have just purchased a Titan model, but am still awaiting to take delivery in March, so cannot comment further.

Trust this is helpful

Best regards,

George

Large footprint !!!!! are you saying I'm not eco friendly? I recycle all my beer bottles. πŸ™‚

went to look at it as my mother wanted a smallish 4x4 to replace her fabia estate. It was quite nice but be aware that a spare wheel is an extra and you only get a can of gunk stuff
