Setting Up A Campsite (Any Advice?)

Steve here's a thought. Why not borrow or rent a caravan for a long weekend/week or so, visit a few sites of different sizes and get a feel for what's needed by a caravanner! Could be the most realistic piece of market research you do! Andy5Z

    Pushing a caravan...

Could you hire a mini digger for a day or 2 and level it off some?

    caravan club website problems?.

Yes not uncommon, think it just gets very busy. I find it best to use the site at off peak times - 10pm onwards! Andy5Z

    Stealth Caravan

We had a look at the NEC, didn't do it for us with the central lounge I'm afraid! What were they thinking? I can only deduce that no one on their design team had ever caravanned! Andy5z

Which way round do the bolts go?

You know what? If people do suffer a snobbery problem well that's it! Their problem! Good luck to you what ever you tow with - we're all caravanners aren't we? Happy caravanning mate. Andy5Z

Easy way to convert your van to a single 13pin plug

Yes the grey lead on van is slightly larger than the one on the adaptor lead but with a touch of fairy liquid to guide it through the grommet I had no problems - nor any waterproofing issues - after all your using what was on your adaptor lead anyway! Advantage of using original leads with...

Rewire van for a single connection

NGH I have only heard about this Swift lead from Jennifers post. If you used my method - converting from an adaptor lead - I really cant see a manufacturer arguing over a warranty claim that has nothing to do with car connections/road lights etc. Andy5Z

Rewire van for a single connection

Jennifer I accept that a kit from swift should be as good - it wasn't available when I did mine in '07. However I would be interested to see the quality of the wiring inside the 13pin plug as I have seen some horrors in my time. These kits are invariably made to a cost by a supplier! Andy 5Z

Rewire van for a single connection

Jennifer tankyou for your view but what could better than using the original twin leads, untouched at the caravan end and replacing the always rubbish original 7 pin plugs with the far superior 13 pin plug from your conversion lead? In my experience I have yet to find a 13 core cable with the...

Easy way to convert your van to a single 13pin plug

Got a car with a 13 pin socket and a van with 2x7 pin plugs? Have to use an adaptor? Hate all that extra length you have to accomadate somehow? Then consider this, with an adaptor lead you basically have a grey and black lead going into a 13 pin plug. So all I did was remove the 13 pin plug...

Rewire van for a single connection

Hi did you do this yet? If not consider this, with an adaptor lead you basically have a grey and black lead going into a 13 pin plug. So all I did was remove the 13 pin plug from the adaptor lead, remove the grey and black plugs from the caravan leads and fitted the 13pin plug straight onto the...

    Electrics tripping

Sounds like either a dodgy mains unit or a perhaps a short on one of your sockets. If you have access to a current clamp you could maybe see if anything is drawing any current even with all sources disconected! Andy

    12V from car

Ian did these comments help you? If not are you sure that your car towing electrics are fully wired correctly? A friend of mine had a similar problem and I discovered he had no relay in his car to provide power to operate habitation relay and power his fridge! This with the 13-pin "full towing...

    Porch Awning for Adria

Hi Susan I think the 2.5m the ads quote will be either the length (ie along the awning rail) and/or depth (from van side outwards). I have never seen any quotes for height as they are made to accommodate all vans on unlevel or uneven ground. Hope this helps. Can reccomend the Scenic Suncamp. Andy

No battery power light on newer fridges

Doesn't it annoy you that on many newer vans there is now no light telling you fridge is on when towing? ie powered from car! Personally I think this was a step backwards in leisure fridge design. What I do is leave one interior light on in van that I can see from drivers door when I start the...
