    New Bailey Senator series 5

Sian, Imagine my situation - taking delivery of a new Louisiana sight unseen till it arrived in New Zealand (no local backup) from the Southampton Dealer! Took it away for a "shakedown" for 23 days over christmas. Oven heated the adjacent cupboard so I contacted the helpline & voila mod kit...

    Increase caravan MPTLM

Well that's an interesting piece of news - has anyone tried for an increase on the Bailey Louisiana?

    BAILEY CUSTOMER SERVICE

Bailey helpline is superb. I emailed about the oven mod for my louisiana in early Jan 06 from my campsite in New zealand and the mod was on my doorstep when I arrived home just over a week later! They have provided numerous other items just as efficiently too. J L

    Filling hose

Thanks John L - sounds like I'd better replace that old green garden hose I've kept in the pack up with the right one!

    Filling hose

I note from reading the bailey on line Caravan manual that it stresses under no circumstances to fill the water container (presumably aquaroll type etc) with a garden hose. Now i can follow the rationale about the on board plumbing being of food quality standard but what exactly are we exposing...

    Number Plate Problem

Not familiar with the UK requirement to have the same plate No on the trailer. Do you remove the rear plate off your car or are you issued with an unlimited supply of plates with your No on them? All vehicles/trailers have independent dedicated No plates in NZ. It doesn't stop the thievery though!

    Caravan design

In fact have you tried freezing a can of beer and using it to keep the picnic basket goodies cool & once that job is done consuming the contents to avoid the hassle of carrying the extra weight back home again? The trick is waiting long enough to be sure it has totally thawed prior to opening...

Caravan M.O.T. Who would support it

New Zealand has the equivalent of the MOT on all trailers (which includes caravans by definition). Up to 8 years old the check is annual and is strictly mechanical/structure only. Brakes if fitted must work. Brakes required for trailers in excess of 2000Kg only. Trailers in excess of 8 years...

    Tyres

I am quite interested to read the comments re the tyres fitted to new caravans. (See Tyron bands this column) What can "Vanners in the know" tell me about the tyres on my new (2004) Bailey Pageant? Have I got the best on offer or should i be looking to improved versions? John Lee

    Tyron bands - runflat system

Either I'm particularly out to lunch today (not unusual) or the web site is confusing - just what is the difference between these systems? This is an antipodean enquiry - my nearest supplier is in Australia. How much do they retail for in the UK? John Lee NZ

2004 Bailey Senator needed new axle

Aside from the compensation issue William what actually was the fault and how did you become aware of it? I am curious as a fellow Bailey owner you see.
