What does anyone else tow a 1600kg caravan with. Seen a new van and the only towcar criteria, apart from towing 1600kg comfortably, is it has to have room for two medium sized dogs (not on the back seats).

I have a 1600kg van, a Fendt 510TG and have only collected it from the dealers about 80 miles away but my Mercedes E Class estate towed it like a dream and there is room for a pack of dogs in the back.

My van is only 1500kg but I do tow a horsebox at around 2 tonnes regularly. It shrugs off the van with consumate ease.

The car is a SWB Shogun GDI and it can tow up to 2.8 Tonnes and does accomodate two German Shepherds with the seats stowed.

I have just asked one of them if he lkies riding in the car and he has gone beresk so now I will have to take him for a ride and long walk!

Hi David,

Our van is 1500kg; but I have not a shadow of doubt that our Volvo XC90 would handle 1600kg very comfortably.

David have to agree, the SWB Shogun Mother of all tow cars, Long wheel base daddie of all tow cars, none can compare.
