Hi again
I posted last week asking advise on the Bailey Senator Indiana S5, thank you for your comments. While looking I have spotted an Ace Award Firestar 4B FB which is lovely, could anyone pass any comments/advise regarding this van, we have seen a 2008 on at £11995, is this good price?
Thanks in advance
K

The price is about right but don't forget to haggle if possible, a hundred quid or more in your pocket is better than a hundred in somebody elses's

The Ace Award series was very well received by caravan buyers and good examples don't stay on dealers forecourts for too long.
Make sure that the caravan has a spare wheel, these were a cost option on earlier models. Look out for saggy upholstery or a saggy mattress, also broken window stays or a sticking door lock, these are easily repairable but are a bargaining lever.
The caravans are well equipped and roomy with full length seating in the lounge area. We had the Abbey 495 which was the equivalent model, a minor criticism is that care must be taken to avoid the duvet getting wet or at least damp when using the sink but the plus points outweigh any bad points.

Check the front centre window is the modified type, was increased in thickness to stop it flexing when towing causing internal marks inside the window, has Parksy says the Hartel door lock seizes up causing the lock to fail, some have had trouble gaining entry to the van on returning, l am sure their is modification for it.
