Al - Ko ATC

I am keen to get an Al-Ko ATC retro fitted to my Bessacarr Cameo for safetys sake.

Is it too early to ask for peoples own experiences with these devices ?

Apparently they can be fitted by Al-Ko in Southam or home fitted by a company called Miriad.

Hi Bill,

Correct me if I am wrong but I think Bessacar as part of the explorer group use BPW chassis, are you sure the atc can be fitted to a non Alko chassis.

Bessacarr themselves used Alko from 1983, in late 1996 they became part of the Swift group who also use Alko running gear,

Had mine fitted today. Having neally lost a van with a severe snake once when someone changed lanes in front of me, I will feel safer when travelling at motorway speeds in the future.

With any luck I will never be able to report its efficiency because like airbags and other safety equipement it may never be deployed.

Brum.

Hi all.

I think the AL-KO ATC is a fantatic idea, but, and I hope I'm wrong in thinking this, will it not lead people into a false sense of security, i.e. not taking to much care in loading the van, travelling a bit faster than normal because if a snake was to happen, the ATC along with the stabilser, will sort things out. What does anyone else think?

Hi Phil. I guess there will always be the 'chancers' that will adopt that attitude. Thankfully I dont think I'm one of them, and I've ordered the new ATC on our 'soon to be manufactured' new van because I feel that any device that can assist with road safety is a worthwhile investment. After all most of us wouldn't drive without a seat belt on, even though, hopefully, we'll never need it. But it could save your life - same as ABS & in the point in question - ATC. Well worth the money I think.

Totally agree 100%. Good luck with your new van, hope you enjoy it and I also hope the ATC does'nt kick in! 🙂 What van have you ordered, just out of interest (being nosey really)!

Ordered a Sterling Elite Searcher T/A with fixed bed with end washroom & the Alde water based heating system. Wouldn't suit everyone I know, but it serves our requirements & ticks nearly all of our 'wish list'

Also love the new silver grey sides - something different.

Not getting it until March, so not even excited yet! Well not much anyway!!
