Annual service

I've just had my van serviced (second annual). Rather than pay the rather high price asked by main dealers, I went to an approved service provider whose premises are 20 miles nearer to my home, and saved about £70 apart from travelling costs. I received a complete write up of all points checked, plus a note of any minor work done. The description of work was explained to me in full and I felt that the service engineer was very professional in his approach to his work. I have not received such documentation from my dealer after a service and needless to say I am very pleased with this small company. The premises are at South Wigston near Leicester and the name is Dave Butlin Caravan Services.(Details by Google)

Derek - I am on my second caravan purchased new and have never taken either to main dealer for service. I have found a recognised private firm who are certified by Bailey and all I can say is that I am very satisfied with the quality of service and they are a hell of a lot cheaper than main agent. I have the service book stamped each year to satisfy the required warrenty.
The firm I use is Caravanmaster in Pontyclun Llantrisant.

Hi Colin Do you think you could provide the number for the service people.I've taken mine to the Caravan Hospital at both Cardiff and Barry.I would not let them service my wheelbarrow in future. If you've found someone good I'd like to use them.Thanks.

Thank you for this, we've just bought our caravan but were discussing where we should go for servicing. Will Bookmark this company and use them when the time comes. Leicester is a little way but for good service not too far.

Please be aware that some caravan makers in the event of a claim,do not accept that a stamped logbook is sufficient evidence of servicing being carried out, they also require sight of the receipts for the sevice. Also be aware that the service date must be within the required time period as set out in your warrany,& the 3rd service must be done prior to the anniversary date of the purchase of the van.
Just some of the complaints that have been posted on the forums by others that have fallen foul with their warranty claims

Hi everyone,
BEWARE
i bought a new caravan in 2009,it was mentioned on the forum by one of our fellow readers.he took his caravan near his home to have a service, hence later on he had a warranty problem he took it back where he bought the van, they said that they didnt service the van, they are blaming the people that serviced the van.the moral of this story is to be on the safe side take the van back to dealership where you bought the van.i know its a pain i live in port talbot,we take back to chelteham to have a service to be on the safe side,so they cant blame anyone else. All The Best Alan P/T

Hi Roger I don't know if it's of any help to you, but I use Newbridge caravan repairs who have been utterly brilliant as far as I am concerned. They are an approved repairer for just about all the big names, and can do warranty work aswell. They have just replaced the front window in my caravan as it had the dreaded marks where the two panes had rubbed together. I was expecting a bit of a battle to get it done as reading a lot of posts on this site many people were experiencing great difficulty in getting their's replaced. Well I don't know if I was one of the lucky one's but mine was replaced with no problems at all. I did not have to lift a finger as they sorted it all out and did all the donkey work in liaising with Elddis, (who incidently were absolutely brilliant about it). All depending on whereabouts you are living, but I have no reservation about recommending them to anyone.
