I had similar one - essentially saying I had a parking fine - arrived in either "whatsApp" or "Messenger" in past few hours. Maybe worth keeping an eye open for such notices. Some may be fooled. Take a little time to consider or post worry on forum for others to support if unsure.

On parking scams: guess you have all seen the one where there is a QR code stuck on a payment machine and a sign telling you to scan it. It’s a scam.

Or don't have a smartphone - some people just have a basic mobile phone.

I do have a smartphone but I don't/won't have anything financial on it. I use cash and credit/debit cards for financial things.

I no longer carry my credit cards etc, all my cards are on my phone.
If I lose my wallet then every card is able to be used in a contactless machine until I report it missing.
If I lose my phone then nothing can be used unless they have got my finger or they know the unlock code.
Oh and as for using a debit card to pay for anything, I don't as the comeback is easier and quicker using a credit card.

Good idea, but they way they find a way to hack anything puts us off having any type of banking on our phones.

Absolutely right, using your phone is much more secure.

Why on earth would you thin k that as it is probably the most insecure. Like others we would never had anything financial on the phone. I don't even have my normal email on my phone. Just a backup email address.
I’m split on this one.
Technically a smart or i phone is actually more secure in the way the data is stored released and transmitted, can’t be hacked, so I am told by regular users.🤔

If I lost my phone or had it stolen then I’m stuffed.

Cards? Still use them , possibly because I just prefer them and still consider them safe.

What I do object to is a lot of car parks now only let you pay by phoning a number or texting, no cards , no cash.. That’s very wrong.

I have bank and credit card apps on my phone mainly because if I loose a card or suspect a scam I can cancel it instantly and order a replacement. No need to go in to contacts to find the number and then wait for someone to answer. And yes I do realise I need a phone signal.

Away in caravan 3 weeks ago and went to use a car park which was Ringo only. One problem no signal on phone. Drove away about half a mile and got weak signal. Paid the meter number to Ringo then drove back to park. Give me cash parking any day,
That's one of the reasons I have a phone with two Sims, it means I have a backup network if one doesn't work.
The second SIM is PAYG and rarely gets used.
