Anybody Tow With A Grand Cherokee Jeep?

Only in the early days with ours, but enjoying it. It has the 2.7 mercedes engine and pulls the twin axle like a train!

Is everyone else happy?

Ive heard dealers are expensive for servicing but havnt got that far yet...

We have had a 3.0 Grand Cherokee for 2 years and it pulls like a train. No effort needed to haul the van. Servicing is not the cheapest but I have priced up non franchised garages and they are not much cheaper, it is a cost that has to be taken into account when buying the beast. Our servicing costs between

Looking at a 3.0 CRD 2006 Grand Cherokee Auto for towing, but heard from a friend of a friend that the Auto box cannot make it's mind up when pulling. This cost him dearly in fuel, so swapped for a 2.7 New Discovery.

Any users out there know first hand how good the current shape 3.0 CRD Auto is when towing?

Many thanks!

I have a 56 plate 3.0 CRD Limited and its a great towcar - our outfit is 1900kg. Its my second Grand Cherokee - prior to this I had the 3.0 CRD and would have no hesitation in recommending as it is also good to drive solo.

Only down side for me is I wish they had used less or better quality plastic in the interior. This is one of the reasons I traded up to the Limited. No issues with the build quality - only it would improve the appearance.

Paul, been towing with a 3.0 CRD Grand Cherokee for over 2 years , van is a 1700kg Delta twin axle. GC has no problems with the van and certainly have never had a problem with it looking for gears. The auto box fitted is recognised in the industry as one of the finest boxes available. As SPG says only thing is a bit to much plastic , but there are plenty of suppliers in the US where trim and extras can be siought.

As for the 2.7 discovery, we had one as a loan car when an idiot hit us, it is a nice vehicle but engine and gearbox wise no match to the Grand Cherokee, a lot slower of the mark (less torque and HP) and the engine is a lot nosier than the Grand Cherokee, which is almost silent, even at speed.

Go to your local dealer and give one a test drive.

Hi all

A new caravanner here, pulling a ranger 620/6 twin axle with a 2008 grand cherokee 3.0 CRD Overland, it is absolutely superb, no problems with Gearbox hunting at all, 60 MPH hit cruise control and relax 21 MPG while towing.

Agree totally with replies.07 reg 3.0 crd overland, its the dogs.We also call it "The Beast" cause it is.Just watch the faces of the boy racers when you leave them standing from the lights.

As far as towing,Spectrum 535 fully loaded on the back just relax and its a pleasure to tow it.21 MPG towing 28-29 normal.

Servicing every 12K in the form of small-med-small etc.(small being approx
