We have possibly 2/3 familys wanting to go to this area next year. Dads and kids want to do some lake sailing or wind surfing plus sea surfing and body boarding. Wives want sunshine and plenty of it. Can anyone suggest a good campsite in this area near to these type of facilities. We have been looking at Les Grand Pins, any feed back on this site would also be good. Thanks

Ian, a favorite of mine in the Landes is Le Clos Aroy which is at lac Leon. That is a bit further south than Bordeaux. A great area for the things you want is Biscarosse. Freshwater lakes just inland and the beaches of Mimizan and Biscarosse on your doorstep. There are loads of family campsites in the area, one that I like is camping Mayotte which had direct access to the lake.

Hi Ian,we have been Les Grand Pins the last 3 years 2 children girl 12 boy 11.we have an overnight crossing ports to st malo get of ferry about 7.30 have 3 stops on way down about 1/2 hour and arrive about 5.30 the journey is well worth it a lovely site in a pine forest with a great friendly atmosphire and plenty to do (the beer is always crisp and refreshing after a hard day at the beach) beach is a 8-10 min walk from site and the town 15/20 min walk with plenty off places to eat and a few grosery shops, bikes are a must as there is a very safe cycle track to the lakes about 3 miles were you can swim/sail etc the sea is really only for surfing/sun bathing in all 10/10 but get booked quick only 9 weeks till we go again and counting.MATTHEW.

We've also caravanned, sailed and wind surfed at La Rive quite a number of times. Biscarosse lake is shallow and ideal for learning to windsurf for all ages as you can go out along way from the shore and still be able to stand ( ideal for children or those with limited swimming ability) in the water. The site has direct acces for sailing on the lake and runs classes as well and hires out boats and boards.

There are plenty of fantastic beaches a short drive away and the sands and lagoon area of Dune du Pyla is not far away and plenty of water activites around Arcachon to.

hiya,

We stayed at la reve last summer.

The site is very good and has a great swimming pool and direct access to a very large lake where they hire all sorts of boating equipment.

The lake is very save as it is very gently sloping you can 100 meters and its only up to your knees.

The sea is only 10-20 mins away and mimizan beach is a must to catch the waves.

I think the site is one of the best u can get in that area.

I booked through select sites and got a great deal with ferry included.

Hope this helps
