Brown Rigg C&CC site, Bellingham. . .

I just wanted to post some thoughts about a weekend we had at The C&CC site, Brown Rigg, Bellingham in Northumberland.

I can see in some message boards that there seems to be a slight swing towards CC sites as they have better facilities (WC/showers etc). Its the third visit we have had to this site and I fall more and more in love with it everytime. The owners keep the site spotlessly clean and very well presented. Also, in my honest opinion, the WC/showers should be awarded a Loo of the Year Award. Ord House in Berwick has been awarded this title in the past and I believe Brown Riggs WC's to be much better.

The owners, Barry and Carol are very friendly and most helpful indeed. They may never be a day go by without a smile or a wave thrown your way. The site is easy to find and get pitched on. Kielder Water is a 15 minute drive away and there is a lovely walk through woodland that takes you to a very nice waterfall.

Anyway, enough said! Try this site out, I dont think you will regret it! (gulp!)

My wife and I were at Bellingham twice last year and loved it. But Baileybazz you forgot to mention that the village of Bellingham is just ten minutes walk away. It has three pubs, two of which do meals. The is a small Co-op, butchers, general store, hairdressers that I can remember and probably one or two more shops. The local farm, again probably only ten minutes walk away has a farm shop, good for carnivores but buys in its veg. so not so good for herbivores.

As I am lucky enough in thirteen years never to have visited the C&CC site with dodgy facilities, all I can say is that the WC / showers and so on were up to scratch and so were the wardens.

Another advantage of this site is that it is up from the river and a fifteen minute car ride from Kielder, so no midges when we were there. My CC handbook for Kieldes says "Midge can be troublesome June to August" understatement of the year!

I would recommend this site to any one wanting to explore inland Northumberland.

We love the site, we have been to Bellingham twice and we will go back in September.

We found Barry and Carole friendly and helpful. If you like walking hareshore Linn is a lovely walk and finish off with a pint in the rose and crown.

Clean, quiet and friendly, couldn't ask for more.

Marc
