Who in their right mind would want to steal a V dub? LOL! 🤣 Lexus bought probably due to reliability and 10 year warranty if you can keep it that long. In addition to the stop lock, our NX300 has a tracker and also a CAN Bus blocker.

21 Mitsubishi Outlander who in their right mind is going to nick one of them, we had a new Outlander PHEV in 2020 it was ok but so boring it was then cheap to run Tesco charging points were free and Octopus Go on 5 pence @ kWh it nearly put me off PHEV for good.
I thought the Canbus blocker was only needed for older Lexus's - with the design fault having been fixed for recent production

It was definitely needed for the pre-2021 models. Cars after 2021 initially did not require the blocker, but thieves have found another way around the issue. However it is more difficult and theft rate for NX350 is well down on the previous model.

As a follow on to my original post about the stolen cars, last night they broke into a house nearby to us, got the car keys and stole the two cars. Easier to target small rural villages as no street lights.
We do not know if the people were in the house at the time, but if they were, would they challenge the thieves? If it were us, it would probably be best to tell them were the keys were located as we would have no idea if they were armed with knives, guns etc. My days of challenging intruders has passed. Your life is more important than a car!
Now considering whether to have a Ghost immobiliser fitted to the Yaris and also the Lexus as that includes a tracker. Even if they got the keys, they would still need the correct code sequence to start the cars. The Lexus does have a CAN Bus blocker and a tracker fitted, but if they have the keys, the car is gone. However we believe that due to the software in a Lexus, there is a possibility that they cannot fit the Ghost immobiliser to the Lexus.

If the thieves are as up to date as some of the "professional" teams seem to be, I suspect they have worked out how to defeat most of the OEM vehicle immobilisers and alarms.
As others have said if they want it they will probably have done their research and know how do get it. The best we can do is to make our own vehicle so obviously protected with visible deterrents so they prefer to find a less well protected vehicle, and leave yours.

Apparently the Ghost immobiliser is extremely difficult to over come due to code being a sequence set up by the driver. This could be pressing the radio button, followed by a air con button, then heated seat button and perhaps some other button. I think at that point the only option left for them is to uplift the car?

That’s even more buttons to press before setting off on the journey. Certainly wouldn’t make my car any good as a fast getaway car? 😂
Looks an interesting concept. My only concern I guess is that modern cars are so complex with their interacting systems that I’d want to be absolutely sure that it wouldn’t create any unexpected outputs.

Most modern cars would probably still have some discrete controls on the steering wheel assembly

If the thieves have broken into your house to steal your keys, they may well come back to ask for the key sequence to start the car... At the point of them having broken in - they can have it.

Even thieves are very conscious of the time element as by that time you could have contacted the police or woken up a neighbour. One of the best is the immobiliser that allows them to steal the car, but a mile or so later the car runs out of fuel due to a hidden switch. It has proven to work quite well.
