Carver Motor Mover - Reluctant!!

We have a motor mover fitted to our Bailey Moselle - its just under a year old. Just recently when pressing the remote control moving the caravan, as you press the button the caravan moves a little distance, then stops, so you have to continually keep repressing the button to achieve the distance you want. Is this normal or should the van move smoothly non stop while pressing the button? We have a 110 amp battery which is fully charged.

The 'van should move smoothly and continuously. However, are you absolutely sure that your 110 amp battery IS fully charged? Also in what sort of shape are the batteries in the remote control?

You can also find that there is a bit of a weak spot for the receiver to pick up commands from the remote control which can cause the problem you are suffering from. This weakspot is usually diagonally opposite where the unit is fitted in the 'van. For instance, if the unit is in the nearside front corner of the 'van, then the blindspot would be around the offside rear corner. Finally, there is a reset button on the unit in the 'van. Try operating this and see if the operation improves.

If the problem persists after trying these checks, then all you can do is take the 'van and the remote to your local dealer to have it all checked out.

Good luck.

It should move smoothly without stopping assuming that there is nothing in the way of the signal from the remote control and that the remote batteries are up to strength. We have just paid

Lorraine, no it shouldnt do what it is doing. It should continue moving until YOU want it to stop.

It should still be under warranty, get it checked and fixed, sounds like the pcb is faulty.

Hi Lorraine

Although we have the soft touch mover they all work the same.eg.should move continuously whilst button is depressed and should not have a start and stop motion. If you have only had your mover for just unser a a year, your model should be guaranteed for 2 years which is upgradable to 3 years for an extra amount. So I would contact provider of the unit or contact Carver, and get it fixed free of charge. Hope this helps Pete.

Hi Lorraine,

When we bought our motor mover we had this problem from day 1.Took it back to the dealer and showed him what was happening. He said it could be the remote at fault or the motor unit,so just changed the lot and we have never looked back since.

Best thing we have ever bought.
