Has anyone stayed at Clathtoll campsite, I am wondering what the road into it is like for a caravan. We would particularly like to stay near Lochinver, so any other suggestions would be welcome.

Hello Margaret

We stayed at Clachtoll camp site earlier this year. The road from Lochinver is quite narrow with passing places along the way, the journey is worthwhile though as the camp site is superb. The owners could not be more welcoming and the views out to sea from the site are outstanding. I hope you have as good a time as we did if you decide to make the trip.

Hi Margaret,

We visited Clachtoll in May.....the owners are the most friendly, helpful people you will find.Toilets/showers are of a good standard which are kept spotlessly clean.

The sea is an unbelievable blue and the beach is pure white sand. It's just a wonderful place to be.

The road in is narrow & twisty (7 mls from Lochinver ) but has passing places and as long as you drive carefully, you will have no problems.

If you want to be nearer Lochinver, try Shore Caravan Site,

106 Achmelvich,

Lochinver.

This is a little nearer.See the reviews on

Thank you for your suggestions, we will certainly add these sites to our options, I know what appeals to one person doesn't appeal to another but It's always helpful to hear from people that have actually stayed on a site.

We have just returned form 4 nights at Headley Wood near Bude & have actually had a 3 dry days!
