Covid 19 again

I see that Imperial Colleges React study now shows Covid retreating in the under 54 age group with R<1, but in the over 54 age group cases are rising. The reason being likely to increased socialising. Must say when my wife and I went out for a lunch last Friday the pub was full, mainly with “us oldies” doing their utmost to get the hospitality industry back onto its feet. 😀

Could equally be that the older groups got their vaccination and boosters earlier. There are so many variables that to be able to state a definite cause is tricky.

This week , my local pub landlord has called me up to make sure we are ok, as we are isolating ouselfs due to Covid, he can see our contribution to his retirement fund going down.
We should be ok to go out again from tomorrow. 🍻🍻🍷🍷
Enjoy your first outing at the pub 🍻🍷

Well we both are negative again with 4 test showing OK .But, have now got a rash and feeling weak. Saw doctor today and it's minor and will go away in time!. Hope I will be OK for Horsley in few weeks

Hi Robert, hopefully we will not be as long as yours. Take care.

For peoples information, we are both triple jabbed, on Friday last we went to a neighbors funeral. On Sunday morning we both had slight cold symptoms, we were due to go to York, so both of us done LFT's. Both positive. I done a PCR test which I had at home.these were reported on the NHS covid app. Monday morning the NHS covid contacted us, so check on our symptoms and see if we needed to go to hospital, Negative on that.

We have isolated ourselfs from others through choice, we still go out and walk the dog but do not socialise, LFT again tomorrow, then hopefully get out as normal.

For us it was just a very mild cold.
Glad it wasnt to bad for you both, hope you test clear tomorrow.

I hope its clear and if i live nearer would have treated you to a pint🍺

After 2 years we and our neighbours have managed to keep clear of the bug. A couple of days ago I spoke for about 5 minutes to one neighbour in their porch. A couple of hours later they messaged to say they'd tested positive and have the symptoms of the earlier variants. Nasty barking cough although her husband says her bite is still ok 🙂

He is fine and showing no symptons and is testing negative.

I've tested clear so far but need a couple more days to be sure.

.......we are also triple vaccinated and have been careful for 2 years.
Both my children (mid 40's) and families who don't live with us, have had it and reported mild cold like symptoms.
I suffer from UK winters and lack of the sun so my wife and I decided to have a week in Tenerife and risk it!
After returning I developed very mild cold like symptoms and tested positive and my wife had negative tests and no symptoms.
It seems the same exposure to the risk can have very different outcomes....its pot luck!

This new variant based on Omicron is showing significant increases but the attention of the media quite understandably is elsewhere. My granddaughter works part time at an Italian chain of restaurant. She has no hours now for the next 10 days as the management have closed her restaurant and redeployed the full time staff and over 18 part time staff to the bigger restaurants in larger towns. This is to make up for the increased Covid absences in those restaurants. So those staff are now commuting to Bath, Bristol and Newport but on a flexible arrangement that may change daily.

Been a spike in Covid cases up my neck of the woods due to this BM2 Omicron variant being more transmissible . I in 18 apparently have Omicron in Scotland going by latest statistics.

Every one sent home last Friday from the wife's Social Work office after 3 members of Staff came down with it. Hospitals are also reporting a fair rise especially in the elderly.

We are not out the woods yet I'm afraid.....

GAS ....

My decedents, plus husbands wives girlfriends and boyfriends. Total 19 people starting at 18 months old. Managed since the start of covid with a clear record. Over the past 8 weeks we have had 8 have come down with it. The worst was one granddaughter, we think hers was worse from being worn out from looking after her two kids and her husband. She went on for about 10 days, very tired and run down, but far from life threatening.

It seems to reflect what is reported. The severity has really decreased. Even the report of hospitalisations from Scotland says hospitalisation has risen but not for severe cases.

For me. The current test is about severe cases and deaths. Otherwise it seems that flu is worse for the majority.

Our daughter is still testing positive on LFT after eight days. She had a PCR confirmation on day 3. She can’t work from home as her placements are in the Bath hospital where 7 of the 10 person team are positive and remain at home. Fortunately none are seriously affected, just feel rubbish , no energy like a heavy cold.

I hope your daughter is soon recovered and back to full health

Thank you. As they say “ it’s an ill wind etc” so she has been able to put more time into her final project thesis whilst at home. The corollary is that she will need to do her missed placements at another later time. The degree course doesn’t recognise time off sick 😷

I am worse now then when I had covid . Swollen ankles, every joint ache ,lungs getting me concern and any exertion cause me to be breathless. Putting the awning up 3 weeks time might be a effete.

Our daughter initially felt rough but her first two LFT on day 1 were negative. But she still took precautions and submitted for a PCR which showed positive. By then LFTs we’re also positive.

SWMBO took 10 days before she got the all clear three weeks ago. Sadly she missed my Mum’s funeral in North Devon. There’s never a good time Clive but I suspect Covid will be as common place as the flu . Let’s hope and the rest of the family avoid it👍

I've merged the thread concerning the fourth Covid jab with this existing and active thread.
We're not going to have different threads running which deal with the same subject matter on the forum.
