DENTS

I gave mt caravan a shampoo and polish today after a long winter, when polishing i noticed a small cluster of dents on the side panel on further investigation i have guessed they have came from keys left in the door when airing the van over the winter months, has anyone ant tips on how to remove them? (also let this be a lesson to others DONT leave keys in the door)

Hi,

it is almost impossible to remove dents ina van as the metal will have stretched unlike a car. Also if you try and use filler and then rub down and paint it will look awful. What most people do is to disguise the dent by covering it with something like a stick on reflector, sticking on a vent outlet but don't penetrate the van wall. I have used Bailey pin stripe to mask a dent that a clothes dryer (hanging from the window ledge) made when I walked into it. I was absolutely gutted as the van was only 2 weeks old at the time.

Cheers

Good advice from Other Clive. I've just retired from donkeys' years in the trade and what Clive says is spot on. Disguise dents - any attempt at repairing will almost certainly result in a bodge-job.
