do i need a leisure battery

after 6 years of caravanning im looking at going on my first rally can some-one let me know if there is electric hook-up available or do i need to rely on my battery, only im not sure its that good, never had to use it before, di.

We do a lot of rallies and I would suggest getting a largish leisure battery to swap with your existing one.

We run 2 batteries and change the battery when charge low or at the end of the weekend.

We then take that battery home to recharge fully at home (on board chargers do not fully charge).

We have never run both batteries down even on a 5 day long weekend using TV. Last year we did 12 days with the 2 batteries but needed 1 recharge.

I should add that the 12 day rally did have a shower block, if we had had to use the van shower the batteries would not have lasted as long.

Talking about showers use the naval method of get wet, turn the water off, soap up and then shower off - saves fresh water and batteries not too mention less waste water to get rid of.
