DSG gearbox help

Hi folks

I am currently in the process of changing my car and I have looked at the Passat estate automatic with the DSG gearbox in it.

I have searched the forum but not found anything in particular regarding this gearbox. I am looking at an 07 plate 2 litre TDI SE estate.

I have read that people have had some concerns over this gearbox so I would appreciate any feedback.

I would be towing an Avondale Dart 556-6 if this makes any difference to any answers

Thanks

Dougy

The DSG is a good gearbox for solo use but some have reported problems when manoeuvring or at slow speed crawls when towing. The recent C&CC Magazine testeda Mondeo v Skoda Superb and the Skoda came very close to the Mondeo but the review commented that the DSG was not comfortable with a van in tow. A conventional auto is at its best in slow speed traffic and no clutch to wear out/burn when pitching up.

I also read what CC said and for me i cannot understand what he means as our dsg as far as i know has never given me problems, and as for slow going its very good. I would have one again without a moments thought.Bye the way it tows 1350 klg van.
