The database is being changed to prevent there being two users with the same name.

Deliberately changing your username knowlingly to that of another user to cause trouble is clearly unacceptable.

One user has has his account closed. In future such deliberate trouble-making will not be permitted.

At a risk of having this posting removed I have to say I agree with Stinky. Also, some postings exercising a forum members viewpoint will invariably be taken differently by some other forum members, this is what can be called an opinion. Do we now reply with only facts in order not to upset (even unintentionally) others with potentially different viewpoints? Does PC stand for Practical Caravan or Politically Correct?

Problem is (or was) that in the past when a thread went of at a tangent that some VERY rude comments were made by individuals. I and others objected to what was bullying and the antagonism then started.

Whilst I think the Forum will be less enjoyable without the "banter", if it is allowed we may get the amateur policemen trying to dictate content as before.

I am sure that humour will resurface - I for one hope so as without humour what is the point of anything? - but I suggest the moderator takes a far firmer stand if it starts to get out of hand or if "sarky" comments and/or individuals overtly try to influence what can and cannot be said.

One frustrating thing that I would ask the techies to try to sort is what happens on other Forums where a thread can be locked when the original subject is exhausted but a new subject that evolved can be set up as a thread in its own right.

I believe one of the restrictions that the moderator has to work with is the fact that his/her ability to be selective seems to be virtually zero. It is delete it all or leave as is. In the interests of free speech the latter was allowed initially but was woefully abused in the end.

With the moderator only being able to delete whole threads when one got hijacked the whole lot got deleted - sensible and puerile together.

Surely it must be possible to make their job easier by giving them a range of tools not just a delete button.

Captain Kangaroo,

Can you please explain why you think yourself an enviromentalist, what factors do you think qualifies you to call yourself Stinky_pete and daventura one, or is just that you say so?

And if you really think we are a bunch of Anoraks why bother waisting your time talking to us....I suppose you also have an account with the local train spotters club just to agonise and annoy them? Just stick to rules, stop all the bickering and enjoy this site. Leave the moderator alone who seems to have a pretty tough job at the moment and try and get on with live...so much worse is happening out there in the real world...debates and arguments on a forum are just not worth it.

I mean't to ask Mr Mod, what are the rules for cancelling an account? Obviously impersonating the Mod is one?

What about posting disgusting jokes about having underage sex with a 13yr old and then someone else replying to that having a laugh, would that get you cancelled? I hope Clive and Graham are reading this, it would be a shame to think that this forum harbours pedophiles.

Are there any other no no's?

IMHO - getting rid of subscribers such as CAPTAIN KANGEROO has got to be a good decision, as I suspect that the likes of him does not even own a caravan and only enter the forums to cause mayhem.

I subscribe to forums so that I can listen to peoples views on the topics raised and if I wanted humour I would join a forum designed for that reason.

Good work moderator and please be vigilant as there are many twisted people waiting to spoil what was setup for caravans

Captain Kangaroo,

People who are certain that their reasoning in an argument is right do not have to resort to name-calling and abusive words. You said that you had previously called the Moderator 'Hitler' and that this still stands. I must say that the Moderator has acted with far more dignity than you could ever muster and, had you likened me to a clearly insane, murdering, incarnation of absolute evil, I would not be so dignified.

Also, how dare you label people as you have done in your post; "..due to the number of "we've never had it so good" over 65's who like the yanks couldn't give a sh*t about the young and the planet so long as their mammoth twin axles can be towed" ..

You don't know anything about these people at all and implying that this is how they think is purely a figment of your bigoted imagination from their postings on this forum, and you have absolutely no idea what their values are and, contrary to what you say, generally, the older generation have far more concern for the state of the environment than the young and most of them have grand-children you know! I am absolutely certain that they care about their future!

Re. your statement that the majority should not win outright; I do agree with this statement to a point, but it is also true that the minority should not either. Minority rule has a lot to answer for in this country these days.

Whether you like it or not, this country is still a free state and people have a choice as to what car they drive.

And before you ask, yes we do have a 4x4 but we also have an 'ordinary' car that we use more frequently. We drive slower in the 4x4, even when not towing, we are considerate road users who are not deliberately aggressive to non- 4x4 drivers and expect the same courtesy from them be given in return. Sadly this is not so as some people feel it is their personal mission to cut up/obstruct/box in a 4x4.

Please, you've made your point and you are entitled to your opinion, but then so are the rest of us. Not everyone has to agree with you.

As Paul and Ruth say, if you don't like us, don't bother talking to and as my Mum says, if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all ..

The joke is question was actually told to me by an Australian Pilot Officer in the Mess at Boscombe Down. We were all watching the (then) five nations and some ribald comments were flying about from the Aussies at our lack of ability on the Rugby field. A vast mix of nations were represented and the "banter" was all good natured. A marked difference to what some try to achieve here.

The joke brought the house down and was a clear reference to Kiwi's and Aussies rather than anything else that has tried to be insinuated.

I realised it was not to everyones taste and even posted an appology for any offence with the joke.

If any one was GENUINELY offended I appoligise again.

I would point out that it was posted on the correct Topic.

I feel the "righteous indignation" expressed here is about as realistic as my suppossed critiscm of the Moderator.

I can't believe what I'm reading in this thread. It started of by the Moderator informing us that the Nickname problems have been sorted. Great news. But again it's degenerated into a debate about forum members and 4x4s.

Give it a rest for goodness sake. The forum over the last few days has been back to how it was originally, which has been like a breath of fresh air. Can we please keep it that way.

Agreed 100% - but it is hard to ignore the impossibly absurd accusation.

Legal acction is now pending subject to our being able to trace the individual.

What on earth are you going on about Captain, my joke was nothing to do with Australians or pedophiles. What happened to you famous sense of humour, does this only apply when you are the one cracking the jokes. I think its time you grew up.

No problem Graham - (liked the joke by the way - my wife thought it good as well.)

Sadly they really overstepped the mark this time.

It is all documeted and all available to you should you need it.

The solicitor dealing cannot believe they have been so stupid. The law is very clear on this sort of thing.
