Gwithian caravan site cornwall

Hi, Has anyone been here. We have three dogs and I was wondering if it would be a good site for them. We have a Bailey Indianna and it is pulled with a Merc Long wheel base Vito just wondering what the approach is like or entrance to the site.

Thanks.

Hi Isabel

we stayed there a couple of years ago so from what I can remember if it hasn't changed.

firtly access to the site is fairly OK the site is only a short drive from the main A road and its a reasonable B road.

As for dogs , they didnt have on site exercise area but there is a public footpath bordering the site and has an access gate from the site. You can then take this path (go left out of site) to get you onto the downs , about a 2 minute walk.

Once on the downs you can either walk them for miles or use the cliff steps down to the beach and the beach is huge.

Alternatively head north along the downs (follow the access road about 5 mins walk) upto a parking area near the Life guard station and there's a better beach access path.

If its still there as well there a little cafe , that did the most amasing homemade lemon cake.

Hi Isabel,

If you mean the Caravan Club site at Gwithian it is fantastic. Very well kept, large pitches, Clean, very friendly wardens and a good play area for children. Its close to the dunes and about 3/4 mile from the beach, we go ther about four times a year and are off there for 2 more weeks on Friday of this week. There are also a couple of commercial sites in the village of Gwithian (maybe you mean one of them?) they are very busy with tents, campers and caravans, especially at this time of year (make hay while the sun shines, although there really hasnt been much sun here for this summer)

Gwithian has a huge beach that can be accessed across the dunes. The only downside is Dog Poo! It really is everywhere! It would be lovely to be able to go for a walk and enjoy the sea views, but you cant take your eyes off the footpaths because of the poo everywhere! We went there for a walk on Sunday and both our 5 and 7 year olds came away with shoes covered in the stuff! a Real shame that people think it's OK not to clear up because its an open space.

If you can live with the Poo it's a fantastic area and a very well kept site!

Hi, Sorry for not replying earlier but we have been away. I have stayed at the CC Site which is very good but the access to the beach is over a busy road which is not too good when you have three dogs so that is why we were wondering about the other site. We stayed there last year and as you say there is dog poo all over the sand dunes. It makes me angry as I think everyone will be thinking it is my dogs as I have three but I can assure you it is not. I even offered a poo bag to a person that's dog I had seen fouling and I was told in quite a few adjectives where to go. It is these irresponsible owners that will cause bans for dogs. Thanking you for your reply.
