I will keep my comments to myself and not run the risk of the Moderators banning me. In a year when we didn’t take our dogs to France I bought some small self adhesive battery operated alarms that went on door and windows. This was because there were dire warnings of entry to vans, and even anaesthetic gases. Needless to say they didn’t get fitted and we are still here. Ever since then two Border Collies followed by two Springers did the job for us.

I wonder if sensors have been fitted on the windows as easier to enter by the window than the door. Never seen the need for door or window sensors as we have an alarm in the caravan that is activated by the PIR sensors. We then get a text advising us of the illegal entry.

Hello and thank you for your comment , I agree windows are at risk of entry but no window sensors currently fitted.

The concern with the door sensor is location with risk of standing on it as well as the aesthetics.

But it doesn’t give warning for entry at night when occupied if that’s what the OP requires.

You are correct and they will get damaged quickly. Is there a reason why they were fitted?

Hello and thank you for your comment , fitted due to insurance requiring Cat1 alarm system . Why do you think they will get damaged quickly ?
People have big feet. Also moving stuff in and out of the caravan? Never heard of any insurance company requesting Cat ! alarm to be fitted so must be due to location of storage site for caravan? Although recommended there is no requirement to insure a caravan.

I have no knowledge of alarm systems however a situation transpired that needed a device that came into operation once a seat had been sat on,I used a pressure pad from the now closed "Tandy " that worked admirable,I don't however know if such a device could be of use in the above application. The pressure may was available in various size and was for low voltage use in case 12volt

Doesn’t look good to me! Has the guy cut away part of door frame? Is it fitted on the hinge or lock side?
My OEM alarm is pir as others have said. Contacts are not needed. Did the Dealer and or Insurer agree the type of alarm with you and explain the installation? Sensors should never be placed I areas where they can become damaged.

Hello Raywood, many thanks for your reply , what are the issues with current location and what would be best position for the sensors do you think ?

Thank you
The alarm contacts look vulnerable to being caught by shoes as people enter or leave. I would have thought putting it higher up would be safer.

In addition, higher up it would not be so obvious. I wonder if it is connected into an alarm system because if it is, the technician may need to have specialised knowledge of the system.
