Afternoon forum.

Arrived at a CAMC site this morning and pitching on a hardstanding.
Trying to pitch our new awning but haven’t been able to peg it down. I have rock-pegs and a drill, but I can’t get the pegs more than a few cm into the ground.
On grass, fine. No issues.

So I’m wondering, am I doing it wrong?! Or does my drill not have enough to do the job?!

Any tips would be gratefully received!

Thanks

Do you have a decent hammer? Often the “screw spiral” will not have enough bite to screw into the substrate or if it does a drill might not have adequate torque. I always used a hammer.

Only been on hardstanding twice and never been a problem but as ever the advice offered will be squirreled away for future use. Thanks to all.

On a few occasions I have found the CAMC hard standings so hard that even when using a lump hammer, the pegs will not go in and end up being bent and they are n ot cheap rock pegs. I then started carrying a masonary bit with us for the drill and made pilot holes and then used screw pegs.
