hyundai Terracan

Does anyone tow with one of these, what are they like?I was thinking of changing my sedona and was looking at a sorrento, but on the way home called in at the Hyundai dealers

to have a look and was offered a terracan at a ridiculous low price £7995 for a 2 year old and £10500 for a 2year old sorrie.

hiya, i have a 57 plate santa fe 7, 2.2 auto cdx7 model. its an amazing towcar and the service from hyundai is far better than kia having already had a new sedona.

i really the the terracan and would have one myself. they are suppose to be an amazing towcar.

see if theres any reports on whattowcar.com or which car.

The Hyundai Terracan is based on the old model Mitsubishi Shogun which was well regarded.

Have a good test drive as it's less car-like than many soft-roaders like the Santa Fe.

hiya, yes i agree with rodger on this. i suppose the santa fe is more like a 4 x 4 cross with an mpv. the terracan is like a big 4 x 4 and does what it says on the tin.

Hi

I had a Hyundai Terracan automatic from October 2005 until August 2006. It was a good towcar - I towed a 2001 Elddis Typhoon GTX (1450kg)and then a 2006 Elddis Cusader Typhoon (1525KG). The only problem I had was that I found the car quite boring and bit too grey inside. It looked like and explosion in a light gey paint factory. It was reliable, better than the Land Rover Discovey TD5 I had before.

I did shop arounf for servicing. I dealer I bought the car from also sold Jeeps and Mercedes and were charging high labour rates. A few phone calls to other Hyundai dealers and the cost was reduced by a half.

I looked at the Sorento and could not do a deal.

One thing I did not like was that the lights/wipers are on the 'wrong' side. I was told I would get used too it, however as I drive two differnt cars, once when I was trying to wash the winscreen, I flashed my head lights, by mistake, and a car pulled out in front of me. It was after this I changed tha car.

I did about 10,000 miles - 2,000 of which was towing. I changed the Terracan for a Ssangyong Rexton Xdi 270SE which I felt had more 'personality', five speed automatic (rather than the Terracan's four speed) and leather seats.

I've just changed the Ssangyong for a Skoda Octavia Scout TDi which is even better, I've also changed the caravan to somthing smaller - lower road tax, better economy, easier to park.

Overall, the Terracan was 'alright', it just did do anything for me.

Thanks everyone for your input,I have just had a test drive,my first impression was that it was very competent and excellent value for money but it is very grey,I shall keep looking, thanks again,Allen
