A massive amount of historic , personal, PMs have now been destroyed. At the very least those private posts between Forumites should have been retained private to those individuals.
The whole point for most of us is we retained privacy but could explain private issues outside of the public domain.
Most do not want to swap e mai addresses, so PMs just gave a better option.
So far none of the other forums I use have closed down the PM.
