First time I came across cruise control was in the US with a hire Chrysler K car. I took it for a few days to do the Skykine Drive and Shenandoah parks. In those days the US had a low national speed limit. Anyway I set it at 50 mph on the Skyline Drive which is a nice flowing two lane road with fabulous scenery. I learnt very quickly that looking at the view whilst the car attempts even a gentle bend at its pre set 50 mph challenges a Chrysler K cars tyre adhesion almost beyond its limits. 🙈

My lane departure/assist has a switch on the steering wheel that can be easily switched to OFF which I do if on some country lanes. But in other roads I can easily turn myself off from the occasional squark as I move outwards on left handers and vice versa. Clearly there should be an input to the settings for ex motor cyclists. Similarly I don’t have blind spot warning, but fortunately my neck still rotates. 🙈

On the Lexus, it can be switched off permanently in the sub menu. If you do need it for whatever reason, then flick it on with the switch on the steering wheel. Your RAV4 will have the same option. Next time you start the car, it will be switched off until you activate it.
You may think it's better - but try quantifying "far, far".

Secondly, Active Cruise Control is a world apart from the “Old” Cruise Control. Huge improvement.
The rest of your post, I am sorry to say, is also rather silly. I think you need to do your homework mate, the biggest issue here is ignorance of the tech. Is your car using old tech?
I have clocked up 50 years since passing my test, but am always ready to embrace modern vehicle technology. Certainly would not want to go back ten or fifteen years, cars are far safer now thanks to tech. Let’s not forget the biggest cause of accidents……..Human error.
Give me a modern car any day.

Be careful when you refer to 'ignorance of tech' because a good many people have no idea what they have going on in the background and its limitations and become dependent on it.
Just look at all the reports about Self Driving cars causing problems.
I'm with Buckman on this - I want to do the controlling - I don't mind technology checking what I'm doing but not taking over. I chose a car with minimum amount of smarts.

And to answer your next question. My neck allows my HEAD to rotate which counters the lack of Blind Spot Warning but after so many years getting an over shoulder view I’d probably still keep doing that.

Anyone here still got winders for the windows, or no power steering, how about servo assisted brakes, not to mention ABS, electric windscreen wipers etc. Not to mention those totally pointless manual gearboxes!

At present manual gearboxes are still available for new cars although the choice is getting more limited as various degrees of electrification are introduced. They do have a purpose in that they allow new drivers to take the Driving Test and the be able to drive manual or automatic cars. Thus giving them a wider choice of first cars to meet their budget and needs.
My first auto was a Volvo 245 GLE estate in the mid 1980s. After that it’s been a variety of autos and manuals. The former being tow cars. I have no issues wrt manual gearboxes but my Superb and XCeed twin clutch autos were “dogs” when it came to tight manoeuvres, such that XCeed was a crunch waiting to happen. No amount of dealer software updates resolved it. Test driving other Kia Ceeds showed similar characteristics. Some other makes also do similar. So not all automatic gearboxes are created equal.
Not all manual gearboxes are created equal either! There were some real dogs out there.
That’s not the point of my post, but you do seem determined to put others down just because their views, actions and choices don’t align with yours.
In other words, you can't say why - you sound like a salesman trying to persuade me to buy some thing I don't need - that's the point, there's a difference between need and want.
Car makers will always try to create new markets for "must-have" gizmos - that's how they make their profits bigger.
