Yesterday the alternator belt snapped on my 68 plate Sportage. Got it taken to my local Kia dealer who has quoted me £ 795 for belt and pulley replacement. Wait for it, if the regenerator is goosed it will be £1790. I asked about the 7 year warranty and was told the belt is not covered, but surely the regenerator should be. They are going to phone once the technician has diagnosed the full damage. I bet i know what they will say. The 7 year warranty is up in December. Anyone had such problem?

I’ve had three Kia’s from 2004, and still have a Rio. I’ve only ever had one warranty claim and that was for a new drivers seat height adjuster lever. I assume your car has a full service history. Hopefully they will support your claim.

Wow, that's a hefty price for a new snake belt.
For my Santa Fe, a new one is £35 to £60 .
I think I may change mine, no cracks in it at all, only done 101106 miles as of today. It should take me about an hour.

On the jeep the serpentine belt was about £60 way back in about 2015, but to change it cost £120 in labour!
