Leaking Front Windows

Hi

I have a 2006 Sterling Eccles Emerald and the two outside front windows leak,The water seems to be getting in at the top of the window seal and running down on the inside of the seal, forming a puddle at the bottom and then running over onto the shelve behind the windows has anyone else had this problem.

Thanks

Hi Gary,

I had exactly the same thing on my Ace Abassador. The cure to it is quite simple. The retaining catches on the window are off centre, so simply unscrew and turn them around. This made my windows watertight.

Hope this will help.

regards Malcolm

Shouldn't your van still be under warranty, and so the cure for this be provided under the warranty? In any event you need to report this to the dealer, because if there are subsequent problems with damp penetration you may lose out if you haven't reported the original problem.

Gary,

Get it done under warranty repair. We have a Bailey that had the same problem. The dealer tried testing it with a hose playing on the windows but no water got in.On journeys when it was raining I always had to put a cloth at the windows,so said it was still happening and then they replaced the rubber seals. No problems since.

Hello Gary,

As others have suggested your caravan may still be under guarantee, and as such this is a classic dealer job.

Even if the manufactures warranty period has expired, the retailer is still potentially responsible under The Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982.

Assuming that no damage or alterations have been made to the window, it is reasonable to expect that windows and their seals will last for several years. If they don't then the product is not fit for service, and the dealer is still liable.
