We are really REALLY close to buying a Lunar Delta RS 2010, brand new from a dealer.......fairly new to caravaning, bought our first in March this year, just to see if it was really for us, after lots of holidays this year we have decided it is most deffinatley for us, but have also decided we want a new caravan (well newer actually) but we went to a dealer just to have a look and fell in love with this Twin axled 4 birth, fixed bed, seperate shower Caravan, we have about £8,000 to spend thinking we would get a 2006 (hopefully).....but after falling in love with this caravan and the sales pitch, we can get the rest on finance!
Just read some negative stuff about the Lunar Delta 2009, but i think its all been changed in this 2010......does anyone have one or know of anything i should be aware of before i comit to buy!........So exciting and scarey all at once......any advice, comments greatly appreciated....thanks!

Hi Dark Angel and welcome to the forum.
You will find negative comments about every make of caravan on any caravan forum on the internet and Lunar is no exception.
They had a record sales year last year and are set to exceed those figures this year so they must be doing something right! The most important thing when buying a new caravan is your relationship with the dealer. All makes and models of caravan have problems which can range from minor irritations to major issues and these grievances are often aired on caravan forums giving prospective buyers a negative impression. As long as your dealer rectifies any problems if they arise as soon as possible with the minimum of fuss you will be fine.
We rarely hear from the overwhelming majority of caravan buyers who have had no problems ( I'm lucky enough to be one of them) and few forum members write in to heap praise on manufacturers or dealers.
I'm not a lunar owner but our caravan is a fixed bed end washroom t/a model so I know that you'l be very comfortable if our experience is anything to go by.
The editor of Practical Caravan magazine Nigel Donnelly wrote in praise of Lunar here in his blog and he certainly knows a thing or two about caravans. It might be worth asking the supplying dealer if he can match the deals on offer at the October NEC Caravan and Outdoor Exhibition, try to avoid paying the 'screen price' for a new caravan is possible. If you can't negotiate a discount try to get the dealer to throw in some accessories as part of the deal and a discount card for the dealers accessory shop say, 10%, wouldn't go amiss. It is said to be best to pay the deposit via credit card, my good friend and forum member Mr Plotter will tell you more. Buying a new caravan is scary and exciting, Enjoy!

Dark Angel we have just bought the Lunar Clubman SE in May which has the same spec has the Delta only on a single axle, the van is brilliant in all aspects, couple of minor issues soughted out by the dealer over the phone which was nothing to do with Lunar, "ancillary problems" (Thetford toilet electric flush fixed on site by phone with dealer help, submersible water pump replaced by dealer), we had a new AceFirestar 08 which had numerous problems which took best part of a year to sort. The Lunar has every thing we require, the Aldi heating is brill, ATC, Tracker System, cant believe how my insurance dropped with all the security features, dropped by £80 a year. We looked at the Delta, would have meant loosing my mover and a new awning to boot, plus their are only two of us and two small Yorkies so didn't need the bigger van. Since Lunar have come back into British ownership they have excelled with record sales as was stated in the last post, hope this a levitates your fears and go ahead with the purchase, their will always be someone that gets what we call a Friday build, all manufacturers suffer from it that’s why they have warranties.

I have a Lunar Lexon 640 2007 model , and we have had 250 nights away in it in over 3 years and 5 months its been down to spain twice , driven through a 500 mile snow blizzard and we had one fault which was the oven door handle coming loose , and it still in good condition target="_blank">

yes i have towed with the Mondeo , but as its an estate you can put the heavy stuff behind the drivers seat , i try to tow at about 95% you cant tell the difference between the cars stability wise , but the Mondeo does have more poke than the Terrano so you tend to get a bit of wheelspin if you accelerate to hard but the Mondeo is more economical on fuel , but as we caravan all year we do tend to use the Terrano more because we like the higher driving position , plus if it wet you have 4 wheel drive , but using the 2 cars you would be hard pressed to tell the difference
