Lunar Fixed Bed models

Hi there,

At the moment we have a fixed bunk Swift, but with the children getting bigger we will need to use a shoe horn to get them into the top bunk shortly.

We are looking for a caravan with twin axle, end bathroom, fixed double bed and the traditional parallel front seats which can both be used as single beds.

On first sight there seem to be quite a few models around, but closer inspection usually shows them to be L shaped seating, which only converts to a double.

The two models we have found that interest us are by Lunar; the Delta 640-EW and Lexon EW.

Has anyone got any views on these caravans, or can maybe suggest another model.

Anita

We're looking for the same sort of thing and have found that the Swift Challenger 630 has the layout you're looking for. Just a case of finding one within budget. Only downside they're not light but since I tow with a VW Sharan diesel, it's well within my weight.

Hi Anita

The Bailey Senator Wyoming has L shaped seats at front on current model so of you are looking for new caravans that would not suit. We looked at Lunar Solaris it's supposed to be limited edition, has the open plan bed layout like the Bailey Indiana but twin axle with rear washroom, and large shower in the back corner. It also has parallel front seats, and I think the weight was quite low for the size of van. If you are in the South or Midlands, Chichester Caravans have their dealer special called 'Freelander' for 2006 which is basically a Solaris with extra kit and upgraded upholstery, looked to be great value, even though we bought the Bailey.

Hi Anita

As mentioned we have a Lunar Lexon EB and we have had a few problems with it, the worst being the wheel coming through inti the caravan - which our dealer has now fixed - we have kicked up a storm about it as our local dealer (one of a chain of dealers) repairs this problem at least one van per month in just one of thier workshops... sadly it's not just lunar that have this problem and it happens on other makes too, especially the Bailey and Swift (or so we are told by our dealer). We have tried to get Lunar to respond to our complaint but they do not reply to emails, letter or phone calls. This is a fatal accident waiting to happen (one van had a burst tyre on the motorway when the baking tray in the oven burst his tyre) and we're urging anyone who has this problem to also kick up a stick and maybe we can get the caravan industry to pull its socks up!

Despite this (and the caravan being broken into while in the dealers workshop!) we love our lexon, it's roomy, light, has a comfortable extra wide bed, long seats to stretch out on, roomy wardrobes and shelves, lots of storage .... So despite all our problems we still think the Lexon is the best of the bunch!!!
