Thanks. It is the veneer covering on top of the chip board that is marked. I have checked previously, but unsure of colour that could be the closest to the original.

There are specialists around who do such "repairs". Our son damaged a new kitchen unit and a specialist came in and it was impossible to see where the damage had been. The dealer is an obvious one to contact first as no doubt they either do work themselves, or bring someone in, like car dealer do.
