Liz....my earlier comments were "tongue in cheek". But, i've yet to go on a full service pitch and get room service, so it's not really "full service" is it.

I just think that it is no big deal really to do any of these jobs, if I did I would'nt have caravanned all these years.

Communual showers are not like hotels and I like to find the shower area clean when I visit, and I also like to leave it clean for the next person. If a mop or squeegy is not available it can't be done, and it only takes a few seconds to mop round anyway so it's not a problem. In all honesty the cleaners cannot be there to mop everytime someone uses the shower. Can they? Mal

Hi Mal, You was up early to post, I hope you moped the shower block before posting. You are quite right its Barmy all these posts, but its been very interesting to hear all your views, I cannot understand most of you mop out the showers, I personally do not stand waiting for people to come out of the shower and go in and mop, but I am their for the rush time, there is always a clean shower for people to use, I do have other jobs to do over the shower block, at the end of the day the choose is yours, if a mop and bucket is there, I would personally leave it.

As to full service pitches, some prefer them and some don't,

Ps To The Plotter I do have one of those sweeps in my cleaning kit, no comment on those. Liz

Just a suggestion, beings most of you want to use a mop and bucket, could the ccc and cc sites, leave a mop and bucket say in a locked cupboard with access to the key, maybe on a hook up high, out of reach from children, then those who want to mop can. This way everybody is happy. Liz

An interesting idea, what other consessions could we all make for the benifit of other peoples badly behaved children? Like removing railings and steps from around the toilet block so the little darlings dont hurt themselves as they dash around on their bikes. Also remove protruding taps for the same reason. I am sure the list is endless.

Hi Norfolk Mike, Glad you liked my idea.

Oh no don't start me off again:-

Steps, railings around shower block what

Children around site on their bikes what

Children are parent's responsibility

Mop and Bucket site property.

Hi Norfolk Mike, The topic was on mop and bucket, but I will give an opinion on protruding taps, all taps are slightly protruding but their again it all depends on where they are, and where they are situated on site.

If children on hurting or pulling taps off the walls well site has a problem, I presume you mean outside taps for use of washing containers and drinking water.

There again its parents responsibility to look after their children in a public area. As you say the list is endless.

Liz...Yes I was up early this morning, quite normal for me I only need about 5 hours sleep a night. Could'nt sleep worrying about how clean the shower was going to be.

The shower I used this morning was spotless and I left it just as clean for the next person....mind you i'm at home now and I would have got a right ear full from "her indoors" if I had'nt wiped it down. Anything for peace and quiet! lol. Mal

Cris did you copy, past & post to the two major players in the caravanning & camping fraternity, to your suggested legal implications / H&S RE the mop & bucket, it has gone this far so you may as well go the full mile, I'm sure you do not want to leave the job half done.

Berty...

Ps loved that picture of you in this months PC, in your suit with the "C"

Across the chest!

.....Is it a bird........is it a plane..... :)

Common cris! We are all waiting in trepidation for the reply from the two big players, I would do it myself but time is very tight at the moment, but we all know you are sat at home on your botty with loads of time to kill, so pull yer finger out cris & get us some results.

Berty...

I will not run down any site whether cc or ccc or private site, but H&S and Hygiene come first. If there is only 1 shower, or 1 toilet, cleaners and wardens have a duty to make sure these facilities are clean for paying caravanners and tenters., whether its BH or peak season. It's not the responsibility of caravanners or tenters to make sure these facilities are clean. If there is any problem showers, toilets are not clean, they should be reported to Manager or site warden

That is our policy on this site. Liz.

Whilst it may not be the responsibility of guests to clean up after others is most certainly IS their reponsibility to clean up after themselves and if you walk into the shower to find it "dirty" and there's a mop sat there, what are you going to do?, spent 30 seconds to wring out the mop and use it or spend god knows how long finding a warden then sit and wait for them to clean it while you sit on your lazy r's,

Whilst the politicaly & H+S correct idiots may have an issue about leaving a mop around, there is also a H&S issue about leaving puddles of soapy water around after a shower, fine if the sites are prepared to have a toilet attendant on duty 24/7.

Of course it's a money issue, it is cheaper to have a mop and bucket available rather than 24 hr attendants, I've never been on a site with 24 hr attendants, they'd be too expensive for me.

If it's the same Liz that made the comment about wanting to ban all vehicles driven by men on another post, need I say more.

Do you think it might be a money issue here; it's cheaper to have a mop and bucket.

P.s Thanks Berty.
This just goes on and on and I certainly have not read my way through 130 odd posts. As a CC member for the last 25 years who uses CC sites, I ALWAYS use the mop after I have finished using the shower to leave it clean for the next user. Simple good manners. End of story. Henry.

Morning gary, yes it is the same Liz.

Back to this topic, all I have to say is if you have a good cleaning team, who knows the site, their should not be a need for 24hr cleaning , I cannot see a rush of people wanted to take their showers 2'oclock in the morning. Even if they wanted to showers would be clean for them. Cleaning and checking showers should be ongoing throughout the day. Hence no need for mop and bucket. I am sorry if you disagree.

We wardens and cleaners seem to have a new name if your the same gary who put in a post yesterday. "toilet attendant". Cheers mate. Am I bothered.

The laziness falls I believe on sites that supply their guests with a mop and bucket to use. Happy moping. Liz lol

I suggest you ask the mod to forward your email addresses to each other so you can correspond and bounce ideas off each other, then we might be able to put this subject to bed now.

Just a suggestion.
