New Forest - Recommendations

We are thinking of going to the New Forest in the May half term week and would be interested in recommendations for a site.

We prefer basic sites without too many facilities except we do want an electric hook up (which seems to rule out most of the Forest Holidays Sites). We have stayed on Setthorns a number of times and really like it but we fancied a change this year.

We have 2 young children with lots of energy so some room to run around and play would be good.

Holmsley is another nice site, hook ups and toilets, not quite as quiet as Setthorns though. Have also used the CC centenary site which is excellent but gets booked very quickly

Are you Caravan Club members ? If you are there's a VERY nice CL just north of Lindhurst called 'The Mill House'

The forestry commission sites are nice, we've stayed at 'Sethorns' but all of them are good.http://www.forestholidays.co.uk/camping_and_caravanning.aspx?gclid=CIzoj4-g-JgCFQ0FZgoduHsplw&gclid=CIzoj4-g-JgCFQ0FZgoduHsplw

An excellent "basic" but not bare field site is Gorse Farm Blissford. It has the EHU and now a nice shower unit.

Its very close to Sandy Balls that is about as far removed from basic as the UK gets, but handy for the papers and shopping.

Gorse Farm is popular so dont leave booking too long or you will not be staying there.

I am not connected but I use it even though I am reasonably local.

Link to Gorse Farm is :

Whoops on reflection he discourages young children now as he also runs an unobtrusive animal feed outlet and he worries about children when using his tractor etc., but he will not bite if you ask him.
