Normandy sites-Le Columbier

Brian,

I assume you mean the Castels site "Chateaux camping Le Colombier"? In whihc case, yes - several times as a two or three day stop over between Calais and the Loire.

It's located in a quiet, rural location, about 1 km from my favourite artisanal cider and Calvados maker in Normandie - you'll pass it driving to the site. The nearest town is Moyaux (nice) and about 10 km from Lisieux (supermarkets)

The pitches are large, many shaded by mature trees, one of two with a tree in the middle of the pitch - just look at the pitches before you decide.

Large and pretty outdoor swimming pool between the dovecote (Colombier) and the chateau - nice gardens - smart restaurant and cafe on site - shop for bread and other essentials. Boule courts and other games in a small area away from the pitches.

Quite a number of fixed tents (Eurocamp, etc) near the site entrance, and separate from the touring caravans.

We've stayed as a stop-over on longer journeys - and it's been fine - as is the nearby Castels "Le Brevedent"

And the farm shop at the cross-roads at Annebault is a classic - it's 20+ km from the camp site - but if you're passing (on the way to the coast), the woman owner makes a number of deserts from the farm produce...

Remember this because it was at Le Colombier where we first saw an Eriba touring caravan - many years ago - and got us hooked on build quality...

Robert
