Northumberland Caravan Parks

I am thinking of taking my young family to Northumberland 14th to 18th April 2009. We will be coming over from N Ireland so I am thinking of somewhere around Hexham area (reckoning on approx 3 hours drive from Stranaer) as going north up the East coast would add another 1 hours drive at least.

Has anyone any advice on good clean caravan sites in that general area altough prepared to drive further for a good site.

I like to have a site that is good for children (ages 2,4,6 & 8) - e.g play area or cycling/exploring.

the caravan club has some good sites in the area bellingham looks good so does kielder water site although with the age of your children you'd have to check how far the site is to it i'd check out the caravan club website if I were you for more information

Hi Stephen The CC have 2/3 sites in Northumberland,

1- River Breamish CC, Powburn nr. Wooler.

2- CC Site at Rothbury (lovely site and place, but a pity that there is no Toilet Facilities.

3 - CC site at Berwick on Tweed. up to CC standard but near to railway line.

Old Hartley nr. Whitley Bay. Grand views on a clear day.

The best IMO is No.1 as it is very cental for visiting all areas of Northumberland.

Good luck with your choice and have a happy caravaning year.

Regards Sheila
