Ratchet advice required.

I have a socket set for the torque wrench and think it is 1/2 square drive. See pictures. I need to access and remove the 12v aux battery. I don't think I could use the torque wrench as it maybe too long. The the battery is located under the driver's seat so limited room to swing the arm. I would also need an extension at least 150mm in length.

I could have it done by a local garage, but they want a £68 fitting fee. I would appreciate some advice on ratchet size as a bit of a numpty in this area. Also those "tower" or bolt things that screw into the square terminal points, are they easy to remove?

A recent post of yours springs to mind.
I understand that, but if they are clumsy with a spanner, maybe they should not be working on a motor vehicle?
Funnily enough, that post was in relation to removing / fitting a battery. I think the same holds true for a 'numpty' who doesn't know which tools to use, or how to undo those 'bolt things'. Maybe you should let the garage do it. ;):ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I know which tools to use, but not familiar with different sizes etc and have not come across the bolts that fit into the battery terminals. Otherwise the battery is a doddle to remove even for a numpty!

A torque wrench, to undo the battery terminals?
If you are unsure of the size then buy a small adjustable spanner!!
The nuts will not be that tight. But as other have said you are clearly not confident, or indeed competent so maybe this job is best left to someone who knows what to do? (A friend or neighbour?)
Have you looked on you tube for "How to undo a nut"?

Well clearly you don't know which tools to use. If you did you wouldn't be posing this question! The way to find out what size the nut is, is to try various sizes of spanner or socket, one one them will fit. Probably somewhere between 10 & 14mm. Or even simpler an adjustable spanner! It's a bolt or a nut, they all undo in exactly the same way ( it's anti-clockwise)

It appears it could be a simple nut & washer or possibly be a washer nut, one with oversized hex [M10] but on a light M8 stud, most likely with the nut made of brass, given its application and relative quality of the vehicle brand.
This is not a job where 1/2" drive would be the tool of considered choice; as already stated if using a socket set a 3/8" drive would be used. There is no direct need to consider a ratchet.

Or if careful and the job is procedurally done correctly a ring/combination or open ended spanner could be used.

The blown up photo centre of the nut looks like a Torkx male.
Like JTQ I’d be using a smaller kit. My 1/4” drive set would do the job. But be sure you don’t drop anything and lose the fixings.
