Santander

We are thinking of booking the ferry in January which leaves Portsmouth at 17.00 and arrives in Santander at around 17.15. As we have 300 miles to drive to reach Portsmouth this would mean that we could do it in the day without an overnight stop around Portsmouth.
Does anyone know of a campsite near Santander which is open in January?

By the time you get off the ferry it will be close to 6pm and you are going to hit the rush hour traffic and it will be dark. Sadly at that time of the year it will probably be at least a 2 hour drive to any campsite that may be open. What is your destination?

Finally it will be Mojacar. We have been to sites around Logrono in the past but thought there would be something nearer. Need to perhaps think again about using that time of ferry.

Best is to try and arrive in early afternoon. Maybe consider Bilbao as an alternative. Are you an ACSI member? Just checked and there is a campsite open near Burgos called Campsite Fuentes Blancas and it is on the way to Mojacar. It is about 3 hours from Santander or 2 hours from Bilbao.

Will be using Virgin del Mar in June again. Not sure why more people who come off the ferry do not use it but of course it will still be light at 6.00 pm in June so maybe people think they can get a couple of hours driving in in which case Burgos is about two hours away I believe is popular.I just had a thought check it is open in January ?

Virgen de Mar campsite near Santander is open all year.
I have been told they do not accept twin axle caravans or dogs.
