got an x trail 08 2.0lt 173 bhp,it has a spare wheel which is on a low rated tyre on a 16 inch steel rim rather than the 17 ins alloy fitted as standard.it catagorically states in the manual you must not use when towing.and is limited to 50mph,it also has a limited load rating for use.have been told if i was caught towing,or exceeding the speed limit with this wheel i would be prosecuted.priced a spare alloy at nissan dealer and the coast was a staggering
Update.
After a frustrating couple of weeks trying to get some straight answers out of Nissan. I took the spare to the local tyre fitter, who i have used for years and have confidence in.
The end result is, i have removed the TEMPARARY tyre and replaced it with a Dunlop sp20, 215/65 98H.
This gives a overall diameter of 4mm less (same as original)
