Spanish diesel

I believe there are a few types of diesel for sale on Spanish forecourts - just so I don't ****** things up, can someone enlighten me as to which one is just normal diesel. Thanks

Look for pump with A or A+ that differentiates it from agriculture diesel. When we last visited there were the same two grades as here. Standard or premium. Black nozzle. Gasoleo or Gasoil.

Other than the dye are they ok for our cars?
Maybe the Spanish don’t bother like the Customs and Excise do,in the U.K.😉

I’ve absolutely no idea, as I just followed Spanish cars to the pumps at first. But they do have “ agricultural “ diesel available but if the OP follows the guidance he will be fine.

Even if the Spanish authorities aren't bothered, the dye will still stain the tank and cause issues if you get checked in the UK.

More likely to get checked by French Customs, if returning through there.

Interesting point, though I would stress here I would not "test" things legal by touching the agricultural stuff. Best steer clear of inviting hassle.

"What would the UK authorities have to make an issue about with any fuel previously used outside the UK? For example, as we no longer are in the EU, stuff we avoided paying any EU duty on whilst driving in Spain?"

Technically I am confident the engines will have no issue as the cetane number will be adequate, simply as many of the diesel engines, or their injection equipment in agricultural kit have automotive roots.

I am (was?) Blissfully unaware of any difference in diesel anywhere in Spain. I have simply pulled into fuel stations, stopped by the black nozzled Gasoleo or Gasoil fuel pump and filled up!

Spanish filling stations always have a display board easily seen on the forecourt.
All fuels are listed giving name and price.
Normally 2 grades of diesel/gasoil are on sale....the higher priced one contains more additives .
Different companies use different brand names.
My experience is if you go to the HGV pumps by mistake a tannoy announcement will tell you and the pumps won't be turned on.

Usually because the HGV pumps delivery fuel at a much faster rate, and often have much bigger diameter delivery nozzles. Use one with a car/MH and you will get a pretty hefty "blowback" all over your legs and feet.

I would think by now most cars will not accept the diameter of an HGV fuelling pump nozzle, incorrect fuelling prevention adaptions. Therefore, surely even the least attentive would not get to the triggering the gun phase, or are there actually individuals like that driving the roads?

Cars vans tractors can run on red or white diesel, in the last few years some plant machinery has had to start using white diesel

I don't know how common it is in UK/EU but it's common in North America and Australia to remove the restrictor on European-built diesels so that they can use the different nozzle sizes.

I discovered many years ago, whilst dealing with "The Public" there is no such thing as idiot proof, the blighters are so damn ingenious they will find a way around most things designed to stop them actually doing it. I have witnessed someone putting leaded into a car that should only have unleaded. He was holding the (fatter) nozzle very carefully at an angle so the fuel would go into the tank (somewhat slowly) without the nozzle going past the very restricter that was in place to? Stop him refueling with leaded 🙄
They really do walk amongst us I am afraid, AND are out and about without adult supervision.

Try using an military fuel point, where armoured vehicles are refueled, tried it once with my coach, wow talking about blow back it was like a fountain or diesel
