Stop over's in Italy.

Travelling from the French Alps to Venice in August, need an overnight stop near Lake Garda/Verona, has anyone got any ideas as it is peak season and all sites that I have seen have a minimum stay?

Cheers. We have found San Francesco on Lake Garda and it looks like they allow you to stay for the one night only.
