Towing covers

I am buying a Pegasus GT65 Rimini and want a front towing cover but they all stop at the top of the "normal" windows. The Pegasus has a panoramic middle window which goes higher and would be unprotected. I have found a company which will extend the standard cover but they need to know how long I want it. Can anyone help me out please - I need the measurement from the bottom of the front panel up to the top of the middle window

Hi. Can't help you with the measurements but I wanted to ask if you had looked at the Protec covers. Looking at their website the covers seem to go to the top of the front panel to where the roof bends. I was thinking about getting one for a unicorn which also has the high window of the Pegasus. I hadn't thought that it wouldn't be covered. The pictures on the Specialised covers website look shorter as you say.

Hi Mel
It's Protec that have offered the extra length - their cover doesn't quite go far enough to protect all the window and if I'm investing in a cover to keep the van clean then I don't want half the window to be dirty, added to which I'm concerned that if the cover is halfway up the window there could be some abrasion damage as the cover will inevitable flap about a bit during the journey

Good point about the abrasion issue. Hadn't thought of that. Let us know how you get on. We don't pick up the new van until at least July so haven't ordered a cover yet.

hi, could I be really silly and suggest you buy a tape measure and actually measure it yourself
you can be absolutely sure then, i'm sure the dealer won't mind might even do it for you if you ask.

I don't pick up the caravan until early June and as there is a 4 week delivery time on the cover I want to get it ordered in plenty of time

in that case ring the dealer and ask, tell him what you want the measurement for sure he will oblige considering the cost of a new van

No one is answering the phone (maybe because it is a Bank Holiday) so I've emailed them. I just thought someone on here with the same van may be able to help

ok fair enough, but if it is a new model [so new the dealer doesn't have a spare one] then I doubt any members would have one :pinch: but you might be lucky.

This is the reply from Bailey;

We would always be somewhat guarded when offering this sort of dimension. If we suggest a particular size and should it be incorrect it could cause obvious issues. We would normally suggest for this type of thing you visit your local caravan retailer and ask that you be allowed to take the necessary measurements.

I am sorry that this is our response to your enquiry.

Now that's what I call customer service - if I'd known they were this good I'd have bought anything but Bailey

I do not see what the problem is, Bailey are only suggesting exactly what has already been said, wait and measure yourself.
If Bailey gave you an arbitrary figure which you used to order a cover , which turned out to be not to your ideal, then I have no doubt you would pursue Bailey for giving out wrong information.
Measure yourself then you only have yourself to blame if you get it wrong.

I don't understand how a manufacturer who uses machinery to design and cut its products to thousandth of an inch, can give the wrong measurement. It might not give the OP the measurement for a cover however they can specify exactly what dimensions they have measured, with the usual disclaimer, and let the OP do with it what they will. They give the measurements of many other features. I agree, it is unhelpful

Received this from Bailey this morning

Thank you for your email.

I have made enquires with our Design Engineer Neil Godfrey and he has advised that a cover reaching 2.5 metres in height would be sufficient.

I trust this information has helped.

Kind regards
