Anybody tow or Has in the past with above vehicle? If so what are the pros and cons? And how much is a standard service on it. TIA.
Wish our Jeep was as cheap. Basic service was about £600 and a main service eye watering £1200 at franchised dealership!I had two Volvos in succession (2018 V90 D4 and 2022 V90 B4P), servicing is expensive if done by Volvo, on the 2018 model I paid an average of £400 a year for the first 3 services, but when I bought the 2022 model I negotiated a 3 year service plan for £300 all-in, bargain!
My only word of caution would be to check the reliability of the year that you're considering, mine weren't good which is why I changed to an Audi last year. Also the ability of the main dealers to fix problems (mainly software issues) was a bit of a lottery.
How does that compare with the Lexus . My RAV4 isn’t too bad but being a hybrid it is more expensive than a full Toyota EV of which there’s only one model anyway.Wish our Jeep was as cheap. Basic service was about £600 and a main service eye watering £1200 at franchised dealership!
Main service on Lexus is £600 and intermediate service about £350 so a huge savings. We have a 2 year service plan costing £50 per month and that also includes breakdown cover. Like your RAV, the car comes with a 10 warranty if serviced annually by Toyota/Lexus.How does that compare with the Lexus . That’s a good price. I plan to keep mine in warranty as you can take it to the 11th year and 110k miles if serviced late in its 10th year. I think the battery warranty goes to 15 years if serviced by dealerships. Car will probably outlast me😂Main service on Lexus is £600 and intermediate service about £350 so a huge savings. It is a Toyota. In South Africa, if you saw a Toyota "broken down" by theside of the road, you never stopped to help as you knew it would be a robbery or high jacking! LOL! 🤣That’s a good price. If you want to go into the jungle take a Land Rover. If you want to come out of the jungle take a Toyota Land Cruiser, was a dit someone told me when I was off roading. It is a Toyota. Main Dealer or an Indie? We stuck with Kia main dealer 7 years because of the warranty but now both cars are serviced by our local Indie. That’s a good price. Sounds a bit like that with servicing costs😱It is a Toyota. In South Africa, if you saw a Toyota "broken down" by theside of the road, you never stopped to help as you knew it would be a robbery or high jacking! LOL! 🤣
Like you I tend to go for annual servicing. When I had a Skoda there was an option to set the car to 12 month 10k miles, or 24 month 20 k miles. The latter directed more at business driver with longer journeys.Main Dealer or an Indie? I don't agree with two year servicing. Annual checks and oil changes etc imo are very important especially as a regular tugger .
I've yet to see any significant reduction in actual EV servicing costs compared to IC cars, even though both time and materials should be less.Servicing costs of ICE vehicles are generally higher than for EV's, Hybrids are more similar to ICE as they still have to complexities of the Engine.
Here are servicing costs for Toyota. The EV is less than ICE equivalents.I've yet to see any significant reduction in actual EV servicing costs compared to IC cars, even though both time and materials should be less.
I'm surprised at some of the figures quoted in this thread - my last VW service plan was £335 to cover two services, one standard and one major - 4-cylinder VWs were cheaper.
Over £700 for two services on a RAV4 - that's double my Touareg, which is a Porsche Cayenne in a plain dress. Here are servicing costs for Toyota. The EV is less than ICE equivalents.

I don’t plan to discuss services to my car, a Lexus in plain dress, just to demonstrate that despite your earlier comments Toyota EV service costs are less than for the costs for cars with an ICE.Over £700 for two services on a RAV4 - that's double my Touareg, which is a Porsche Cayenne in a plain dress.
But don’t you use an independent? My Touareg for years has been very reasonable on servicing. The last bill including brake pads was still less than £350.
My friend’s Tesla has to be taken 70 miles to Cribbs Causeway South Bristol for all serving and repairs. He hasn’t had a bill for less than a grand so far!It eats brakes and tyres🙀
Yes! The VW main dealer is £150 per hour labour🙉But don’t you use an independent?
It's easy and practical for a brand with high prices to offer lower prices for a new technology.I don’t plan to discuss services to my car, a Lexus in plain dress, just to demonstrate that despite your earlier comments Toyota EV service costs are less than for the costs for cars with an ICE.
£350 for two VW services seems very cheap, as even my Kia Rio next service by a main dealer is nearly £400. When was your plan dated?
In a previous post you stated that your service plan gave 25% discount but were dissatisfied VW services and was going to use an independent. So you are not comparing like with like. The Toyota service prices in my post were current prices for single services. So what is the VW equivalent for your car at today’s prices? It's easy and practical for a brand with high prices to offer lower prices for a new technology.
My VW service plan covered the 2023 and 2024 services - my trusted local independent is a little cheaper.
You may as well keep to the two year servicing plan, and then just do a yearly oil change, (not an interim service) probably save £100.Main Dealer or an Indie? We stuck with Kia main dealer 7 years because of the warranty but now both cars are serviced by our local Indie.

However do you have a 10 year warranty on thne car as that is included in the service cost for the Toyota. Basically an insurance!Over £700 for two services on a RAV4 - that's double my Touareg, which is a Porsche Cayenne in a plain dress.
