Well, thanks for (yet another!!) long and detailed insight into your hugely successful working past, Steve in Leo, but what's that got to do with whether or not to wave? ;o)

Great CV there, sad someone lost their job,sad at all the brown nosing going on and i have HND's,C & G's and have forgotten more than most folk know.I am now working towards my Bsc in Engineering... a bit late but there you go....i was a machine operator many years ago and ran the D.O and Programming office on the very first Machining centre the company bought way back in 1982...Although i had completed a 5 years apprenticeship in Milling ,Turning and Grinding.( i once had to produce a 3 start trapezoidal thread for a machine lead screw that was 5' long and done manually...those skils have now been lost imafraid.)

We had to self teach programming and used punched tape.

I have moved around a bit then designing and building incineration plant, off shore waste heat exchangers, onshore glycol plants, even designing inkjet coders for printing sell by dates on tubs of marg,, developed Lean systems,Kaizen Philosophies,Six Sigma etc,but i would never be a machine operator or cnc programmer again, there is simply not enough to do its lost all the skills sets that we had.

When was the last time you saw an operator setting up a dividing head and calculating the pitches?

The country is collapsing about our ears and there's a massive intellectual debate on PCv forum about whether we should wave or not ... heh! heh! heh!
Makes a change from talking about football...or motorbikes....or kids, dogs, pitch cut-throughs, early arrivals...etc. etc. ;o) hehehe

Bill D.
Thanks for clearing that up, Bill....I thought it was a bit of a random comment, more like something I'd say!! (well, if my name was Bill, hehehe).)

Hi Soozeeg

I'm sorry you missed the point of my rammblings as you called it.

The point quite simple.

Treating people with respect and consideration usually get's a simlar response.

Ignorance and contempt bread quite the opposite.

I always try to be polite until it is real necessary to assert myself which I can do if required. I will always treat other in a manner that I like to be spoken to or treated.

If any fellow caravanners waved at us on our travels, my first thought would be O my god , whats wrong? We may then pull over to check if everything was ok, or spend the rest of the journey worrying if something was wrong. Either that, or spend the whole of the journey thinking, Who was that? Do we know them?!!!

Cheers, Roy.

Keep trying - we travelled 200 miles, waved to over 70 caravanners and got a total of 2 waves back ... they were worth it though ... we'll get the caravanning world waving yet! Mrs Wolfie
