Hi all, ours is a completely barmy but totally adorable Chocalate Labrador - Charlie - he was ever so cheap when we bought him 15 months ago from some hillbillies in mid-Devon, so we think his pedigree is a little suspect, as he's the biggest Lab we've seen! Loves caravanning, other dogs and people. Now the sprogs have left home, we wouldn't be without him. Never answers back and only ever asks for his grub and a walk twice a day - why can't people be more like dogs? Trouble is, having read some of your heart-rending tales, what do we do when he's 10-12 years old?

The parting is sad and hard to take Mike but try not to think about it till it happens.

We have a springer spaniel, Charlie. He is 4 months old and loves to eat, carpets, curtains, shoes, clothes, mobile phones, shrubs, in fact anything but celery.

So we've just purchased our first caravan, and I'm sure he will just love all the tastey fixtures and fittings.

But what the heck, we love him!

Coincidence, but I met a Police dog trainer today who has two Springers. He was admiring my dogs, "how far do they walk each day". I explained that they rarely walk(run like mad) and off the lead they cover about 15 miles to my 5 or so every day. "same as mine, and I bet they don't eat everything". He's right, so make sure your lovely dog gets off the lead now and learns to come back so that he can get the runs he will probably need ;-)

Our springer is very active, he will literally run himself into the ground, we call him the "lean, running machine" he adores a game of golf, does not eat everything, only what he is given, sometimes, he has a tendancy to be rather contrary over food.We had a small problem with carpet scrapping when he was much younger but was a result of losing an older pal. Six months and he was fine!

We have a 1 year old chocolate lab. She absolutley loved the caravan last year she used to sleep under our bed but that was when she was only about 5 months old this year she has grown a few inches so have not got a clue where she is going to decide to sleep.

Make no bones about it, Lisa!!! She will be ON the bed, either early doors or later!!! At least you will have the knowledge that she will keep you warm on colder nights. Good luck.

My gorgeous boys are a 5 year old "vintage" West Highland white terrier, a "bob" model. And a somewhat newer, rather larger 3 year old scottish terrier of the "Jack" variety!!

The Jack tends to consume more fuel than the Bob so is rather large around the rear end!

Both models are rather prone to caravanning but tend to break down after long beach walks ;)

we have a very pampered german shepherd who has just turned 7.

used to have 2 german shepherds at the same time, but sadly lost one couple of years ago.

no kids yet, so dog travels everywhere with us...enjoys any form of water activity, chasing cats, watching football on the tv (even searches for the goalkeeper in the video cabinet when he kicks the ball!).
We also have a German Shepherd, Lucy, and a X breed, Zak, sadly I think this will be Lucy's last caravan season, as she is losing the feeling to her back legs, but most of the time you'd never guess she was nearly 14. Both love the caravan and spring into action when we get the keys out of the kitchen drawer!

Hi Guys

Thought I would add my pair to the list. We have two border collies. Skye is 6 years old, tri-coloured and Fern is two years old black and white. Fern came with us in the caravan when she was only 6 months old and took to it like a duck to water.

We would never be able to leave them when we go away, and a caravan is the best type of holiday when you have dogs.

We have a (nearly) one year old Border Terrier, called Keo. My wife had been pestering me for years to get a dog, and i gave in after 15 years.

Never was a great dog lover, but i must admit he's changed that.

He is also the reason we have a caravan now.

Gavin.

Am sorry to say as an update to our entry earlier on in this topic Benson our elderly labrador is no longer with us as from last Thursday so the Fouldsy household has been a bit sad this week. He was 16 though and had had a great life (which was of course made even richer by his discovery late on in life of the joys of caravanning).

Leaves us with the fat whippet (Bridget), who if we're not careful will be even fatter as everyone lavishes their attention / treats on her. Incidentally Bridget would like it to be known she's not fat, just big boned!

Sorry to hear about Benson, it is a time all pet lovers dread, but at least he had a good and long life, you have your memories to help you through the tough times, I have been there and it is heartbreaking, we still have two Dogs, one is 15 soon, the other is 13 soon, so one day........God Bless Benson.R.I.P.
