Yes other vehicles can be affected. Years ago, when wire wheels were a desirable and more common fitting to cars, the nearside hubs had a left hand thread for the wheel spinner, so it would tend to tighten up.

Today, alloy wheels have higher torques than comparable steel wheels

Chris I have a sticker on each wheel arch with tyre pressure and torque setting for my own and others information!

After the last service the job sheet next to wheel bolts had written on "torqued to 85 lb ft"

Hello John,

Did the sheet realy quote the torque in lbft"?

Motor traders are now required to to use metric figures which would be NM (newton metres)

Yes as I had it in lb ft on my sticker presumably!
