This morning, Asda Dunbar had diesel at £1.827 but by the time I refuelled tonight ready for tomorrow's tow home, the price had gone up to £1.837 - and Asda Pay-at-pump still have a maximum of £99 so I needed to use two different credit cards to get 65 litres.Yesterday at about 11.30am the service station nearest to Frampton Severn had fuel at £1.84 a litre This morning at about the same time it was £1.79!
The report is about the "average" - I've been paying over £100 for a full tank for several years now - as it's a 100 litre tank!BBC Headline today 16 minutes ago. "Drivers pay £100 to fill tank for the first time as petrol prices soar!" Implies that people who bought brand new cars and filling up for the first time will pay over £100!
I paid over £123 fill up our diesel on 13th May and over £100 to fill it up again on 25th May. Yesterday we put in 25litres unleaded and cost was in excess of £45 and it was only 3/4 full! Luckily it is a small tank.
I think BBC need to get up to date with their reporting.

Thankfully the price increse does't really effect us as the wife only puts in £20 , she says it lasts ages.BBC Headline today 16 minutes ago. We get the majority of our stuff delivered, but some weeks we still need to go to the store so a 20 mile round trip and we used to use the big Jeep as more comfortable, but now definitely the smaller more economical car. Only other trip now is for an outing on Saturday for lunch at a local so a round trip of about 10 mile. Never bother about mileage, but now a different story. Our local service station now shows £1.97 diesel, £1.95 E10 & £2.07 for E5!
Getting to the point where it's cheaper to get stuff delivered than going out to get it!
We already have a home delivery with Asda once a week and if we need anything else we use my wife car twenty pounds last a long timeOur local service station now shows £1.97 diesel, £1.95 E10 & £2.07 for E5!

We’ve noticed the steady increase in pub prices. One landlady of a village pub in Northamptonshire is now paying £30000 per year (see edit below should be quarterly) on energy which isn’t capped for businesses. It costs £5000 a week just to open the doors without the cost of purchasing food or beer. She’s giving up which means 5-6 staff lose their jobs too. I suspect there will be many others following her decision. We get the majority of our stuff delivered, but some weeks we still need to go to the store so a 20 mile round trip and we used to use the big Jeep as more comfortable, but now definitely the smaller more economical car. Country hospitality trade like pubs are going to suffer which is not good coming on the heels of two lockdowns.
Sadly I think small businesses like pubs closing is only the tip of the iceberg? Many campsites including CLs will be putting up their prices to cope with high energy including fuel prices however your pension will not go up by 5or even 10%!We’ve noticed the steady increase in pub prices. BTW how to work it out that it cost £5000 a week in energy costs only as that works out at over £260000 annually?
Apologies as I misunderstood when you said £5k excluding purchase of food and drinks and assumed that was energy costs only.I did not say that the £5000 to open per week was energy costs. Operating a business has a number of costs in addition to energy.
The good news is that state pension increase in April 2023 will be based on the CPI in September this year if HMG stick to their word and reinstate the Triple Lock. So if CPI sits at 10% then you can look forward to April 2023.
State pensions will go up next year to cover this year's inflation - it's the way the Triple Lock works - inflation though is hurting those with fixed rate annuity pensions, and of course savings are being devalued.Sadly I think small businesses like pubs closing is only the tip of the iceberg? But are the last two years representative as Covid has spanned them from March 2020. Our mileage is considerably down on what it would normally be.My average mileage last two years is approx 6k pa.
Assuming fuel two years ago was circa say £1.25 against next weeks £2.00 a litre my additional cost will be £675pa. Say £50 a month. Arguably not as bad for me as those who need their cars for commuting and business doing higher annual mileages.
At the moment fuel prices will not limit my touring. 👍
In 2020 our vehicle did approximately 5800 miles and in 2021 it was almost 7500 miles. About same mileage for 2019.But are the last two years representative as Covid has spanned them from March 2020. Our mileage is considerably down on what it would normally be.
