I do not know how our local fuel station keeps his price down so long , even today it is gone to £149.99 but all the others are £165-156. They also have a well stocked provision shop. As for holidays we have April, May and June booked at a week each. As I will be fishing I went into our local Direct and saw the prices of the esentials have gone up a lot as well. These weeks are getting dearer to the point how long can we do them. My £5 pension increas just about covers my BT let alone the other things that will go up .

Regarding the cap and our charge of 31p I too felt we had been over-charged. My wife paid for the stay whilst i sorted the caravan, and she questioned the price of electricity. When we made the reservation we were told most people use about £2.50 a day.

(We used around £3.50 a day as only used the van for sleeping - no on site during the days. Perhaps the stated £2.50 average is summer months or maybe even a "slight" underestimate that is good for business).

The owner told her that was the amount he was charged - and she felt to argue would not produce a reduction but mount up annoyance and stress.

I now see that the site web page talks of refunds being given for unused electric but I've no idea how that works. The owner simply took the reading from the EHU and wandered off to make out the bill.

We paid £22 per night for the site - couple of toilets and showers for each gender. Nice site with bar that opens in the warmer months. Clean and manicured grass with all hard standing on gravel.

The site is Jaydene, Suffolk. Summer prices are £32.

I did notice a massive array of solar panels on the outbuildings roof. This is a guess, but from memory I'd say around 50 panels! So seems to me electricity charges are not an insignificant contribution to income.

As a matter of interest - we booked this site simply because our usual CL was full. There we have a massive field for summer and hard standings for winter. No manicured grass and clearly not a commercial enterprise as Jaydene is.

The main difference is no toilet or shower (not an issue for us) but cost is £10 per night and comes with 16 amp electricity at no extra charge.

Thankfully we have reservations already made for family visits later in the year.

A CL we regularly use in London charges £16.00 a night for 16 amp EHU. I do believe the owner will be increasing this by a couple of quid soon - to cover electricity increases.

Topped up the Santa Fe , yesterday for a trip to York on Wednesday, and our BP garage was down to £1.54 for diesel. Just wish the beer in York was so cheap.
York is a great place to visit with many attributes so hope you get all you can out of the visit as well as a good pint. Alot of the area has been pedestrianised for easy accessability so the visit and sights are easy to access, have a good visit.

BB, I have been there many times, we were supposed to go up Wednesday, for 4 days, but both of us tested Positive this morning for Covid. So its stay at home and watch the TV. Bah Humbug.

OMG Hutch😥😥. That’s the end of your York trip or is it? Legally Boris says you no longer have to isolate . But the strong guidance is stay home. I wish he’d make up his mind! Terri did stay home for nearly two weeks and I slept in another room. Look on the bright side you and Elaine can still sleep together and Tesco do home delivery for beer and wine🤪. You will be fine 🍷🍷🍺🍺🍺🥃🥃🥃

Regarding fuel prices. Today we topped up with unleaded at a Sainsbury shop Esso and it was £1.67, but the Morrisons shop Esso around the corner was £0.05p cheaper. If we had known that we would have topped up there.
Tomorrow when I top up the Jeep we will use the cheaper Esso and forget about collecting Sainsbury points. Maybe the cost at the Sainsbury Esso is higher because if you change 300 Nectar points you get 5p off a litre?
On the way home we passed a Murco garage and that was 6p cheaper than the Sainsbury Esso.

Hope you get better as quickly as my wife did from it Hutch-just like a cold.
Anyway swmbo is rattled-we were off to Cornwall (from Lincoln so a bit of a trek I suppose). She's worried about Ukraine-very and we're doing all we can from here to support them so we've decided to send them extra cash over the usual fuel cost and cancel Cornwall- we'll go somewhere a bit closer to home and let our money savings do some good.

That is very kind and thoughtful of you. Personally we would rather donate goods as money always tends to end up lining someone else's pocket instead of the people in need.

Can someone please explain to me why the huge increase in the cost of a litre now when the oil at the higher prices has not yet reached our shores and is probably still on a tanker in mid ocean?

I have decided now that the fuel costs are going up. I am lot going to let it affect me too much as I will only put £20 worth of diesel in my car. 😀

Maybe wise to top up while prices are low? Between last week and this week price per litre increased by 15p for a litre of diesel.

Cheaper to drink unleaded. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
4 litres of paraffin was £13.99 at our garden Center. I gave up heating the greenhouse some years ago and one of the few benefits of global warming is that more plants survive winter without the need for heat. Just plonk them next to a south-west facing house wall

Have been on this 'planet' for nearly 80 years now! - When I started buying the 'liquid gold', was getting 5 gallons of Jet for a quid, even seemed dear at that. When has it ever gone down? - Or been cheap, Suez? etc. Didn't stop buying/paying then, don't suppose I shall now. If this generation doesn't spend it, I know one that will!

I remember in the 1960s I couldn’t afford the petrol for my motorbike. So to attend college I hitch hiked each weekday from Leicester to Loughborough and return, but then hitch hiking was not that difficult compared to today.

Rather than use the diesel we are now using the petrol car lot more. Biggest issue for me is that with it being so low to the ground, I have difficulty getting out of it and need assistance.
We have done so for several months, but the MG is only marginally better on fuel , but it's a lot more fun :devilish:

Booked to go away for a week over Easter. Back to one of our favorite CL sites near Amble. £12 a night inc electric which is an absolute bargain. Shame it's 240 miles away so the fuel is going to kill us. Spaffing my bonus payout from work on the fuel.

Fuel prices where we are range from £149.9 to £170. Today went to Dunelms which is about 20 miles away, the A127 usually is 70 plus when able , today we kept in cruise control at 50 mph. Only a few came pass us as most have moderated their speed it seems. Our computer said 69.94 mpg.
