Have stayed on here again a year or two back, (son has now taken over from father and developed site since.) Pubs not quite as near as some would like, but there is a meeting hall on site which can be used/hired. But as said previously any where or time suits us.

A couple of hours absolute max for a term time/October half term drive as we don't really want to set up in the dark. The kids don't get home til nearly 4pm, and Matfinishes work and is not home before 6pm. The Island site looks ideal!

I thought the Island site also looked good. Does the area have a history of regular flooding?sites on the Norfolk Lincolnshire border look great but may be too far for some?

I live on a flood plain and am the local unpaid flood warden. Cricklade is the first town on the Thames. Our house is 50 yards from the river. All the fiekds around us flood but the houses so far have remained dry..
I wonder if the Island site has ever suffered a flood ?

.........I can recommend Bo Peep but it has no bar/ restaurant
The nearby village of Adderbury has some very nice pub/ restaurants though!

This ones just down the road from Anitas, doesn't appear to have own web site but plenty of Google references to look up.

Been to Barnstones and Anitas both good.Barnstones is within walking distance of Great Bourton Village which rents out its hall for around £20 a night which we could easily recover with our own drinks. It also iirc has a kitchen that we could keep food warm in etc.Used it on a C&CC rally once and its quite decent.
Edit There is a rally field as you enter with hook up communal tap etc that might be available at reduced rates

Re 'rally field' - at that time of the year we would be hoping for hard standing as grass can be very wet with dew in the mornings and evenings.
